Linus Ullmark made 30 saves to earn his third shutout of the season and his second in the past three games, leading the Ottawa Senators to a 3-0 win over the Seattle Kraken on Tuesday. Ullmark, who won the 2022-23 Vezina Trophy as the NHL’s best goalie while with Boston, has now won his last six starts, giving up only five goals during that stretch.
Shane Pinto, Noah Gregor, and Tim Stutzle scored for Ottawa, which won its fourth straight game, a season-high streak. The Senators are beginning a nine-game road trip and will play four consecutive away games before returning home for the holiday break.
They will then go on another five-game road trip due to the International Ice Hockey Federation’s world junior championships being held in Ottawa.
Kraken goalie Joey Daccord, who was picked from Ottawa in the 2021 expansion draft, stopped 23 of 26 shots. Seattle finished its four-game homestand with a 1-2-1 record.
Ottawa swept the season series against Seattle, winning both games 3-0. They also won 3-0 in their previous meeting on Nov. 2 in Ottawa with Anton Forsberg in goal.
The Kraken outshot Ottawa 15-7 in a scoreless first period.
The Senators took the lead at 8:02 of the second period. Michael Amadio forced a turnover as Seattle tried to enter its offensive zone, leading to an odd-man rush. Pinto carried the puck up the right wing and took a shot from the faceoff dot, which slipped between Daccord’s legs.
Ottawa increased its lead to 2-0 at 12:45 of the second. Zack Ostapchuk carried the puck from his own blue line into Seattle’s zone, passing to Ridly Greig at the left point. Greig quickly passed to Gregor, who beat Daccord with a shot just inside the post.
Stutzle sealed the victory with a 3-0 goal on a breakaway at 4:18 of the third period. Claude Giroux forced a turnover in Ottawa’s defensive zone, and Adam Gaudette made a backhanded pass to Stutzle, sending him in alone from the blue line. Daccord got a piece of Stutzle’s shot, but it deflected over his shoulder into the net.
