As part of a busy offseason, Hamilton announced that he would finally join Ferrari in 2025, after spending his last season with Mercedes, where he won six out of seven World Championships.
Charles Leclerc Excited for Lewis Hamilton Challenge
Ferrari was busy renewing contracts before the F1 2024 season, securing Leclerc with a new deal. However, they chose to sign Hamilton instead of keeping Sainz. Leclerc admitted he knew this was a possibility a few months before it was confirmed.
When asked by Fox Sports if the news about Hamilton surprised him or if Ferrari gave him a heads-up, Leclerc replied, “I knew for several months that it was a possibility. But it was still surprising to hear that it could happen.”
Leclerc also expressed his excitement about racing alongside Hamilton, considering him the most successful driver in F1 history. However, Leclerc sees it as both a learning opportunity and a chance to prove himself.
He said, “I will learn from Lewis, but it’s also a chance for me to show what I can do, which I find exciting. It’s going to be great.”
At the start of the F1 2024 season, Leclerc has seen some success, with two podium finishes in the first three races, while Hamilton has yet to finish higher than P7.
