IPL 2020 is over as Mumbai Indians were crowned as the champions for the 5th time. The defending champions put up an excellent display of their game throughout the season. Firstly, they finished at the top of the points table with 18 points (more than any other team). Apart from that, they also had the best net run-rate amongst all the teams. After qualifying for the playoffs, they defeated Delhi Capitals twice, in Qualifier 1 and in the finals. As a result, they claimed their 5th trophy to maintain their record as the team with the most teams. Anyhow, there were many other astonishing stats and awards given out this season. Let us take a look at those stats and see who was the best bowler and best batsman of the season.

IPL 2020 Stats:

Orange Cap:

KL Rahul won the orange cap for scoring the most runs in the IPL 2020 season. Even though the KXIP skipper failed to help his team qualify for the playoffs, he surely did a great job as an individual. He scored 670 runs in the 14 innings that he played to stay 52 runs clear of Shikhar Dhawan, who played 3 more innings than him. Apart from this, KL Rahul also registered the highest score in an inning by an individual this season. He smashed 132* runs in just 69 balls against RCB as KXIP went on to win the match by 97 runs.

Purple Cap:

The South-African fast bowler Kagiso Rabada won the purple cap for picking up a massive amount of 30 wickets this season. He picked up those wickets from the 17 matches that he played with Delhi Capitals. He had a fierce competition going on with the MI pacer Jasprit Bumrah. However, Rabada did play 2 matches more than Bumrah, but in the end, Bumrah went on to win IPL 2020 with his side. So, Rabada had to settle with the purple cap.

Emerging Player of the Year:

Every year, there is an award booked for the youngsters of every team as they compete in IPL. Just like that, the Emerging Player of the Year award was given out this year too. Devdutt Padikkal, the Royal Challengers Bangalore opener was recognized with this honor. He had the perfect season as he made his IPL debut this year with the Virat Kohli-led side. He scored 473 runs from the 15 matches that he played and scored 5 half-centuries. His highest score was 74* against MI. Apart from that, he showed a good performance while fielding too as he grabbed 8 catches with 2 of them being labeled in the list of the best catches of IPL 2020.

GameChanger of the Season:

The Kings XI Punjab skipper, KL Rahul won another award i.e. the Dream11 IPL GameChanger of the Season. He had been consistent for his side as he scored 670 runs in 14 innings. Those 670 runs were distributed in a course of 5 half-centuries and 1 century. He had managed to win 976 IPL Fantasy Points for all the matches that he played. As a result, he was without any doubt the Dream11 IPL GameChanger of the Season.

Altroz Super Striker of the Season:

Keiron Pollard, the West-Indies all-rounder won the Altroz Super Striker of the Season award. He had been amazing throughout the entire season as he had a strike-rate of 191.42. He had smashed 268 runs playing in the middle-order. Even though he had played 16 matches, his strike rate was the best throughout the season. So, he truly deserved the award.

Unacademy Lets Crack It Sixes:

Ishan Kishan, the Mumbai Indians youngster grabbed the Unacademy Lets Crack It Sixes award for IPL 2020. He smashed 30 sixes in the 14 matches that he played to stay 4 sixes clear of the next player i.e. Sanju Samson. Even after being injured at the initial stages of the IPL and missing two matches, he did not take much time to get in form. As soon as he played his first match for MI in IPL 2020, he scored a whopping 99 runs in just balls. Even though MI went on to lose the match, the 22-year old had announced his arrival. After that, the youngster was quite consistent for his team as he played some really great knocks.

Cred Power Player of the Season:

Trent Boult became the Cred Power Player of the season for his excellent performance. Boult had been one of the best bowlers for MI throughout the season. He delivered every time in the powerplay by getting wickets and also keeping his economy low. Even in the finals, he became the Man of the Match and the Cred Power Player of the match for his extra-ordinary 4-over spell. He took 3 wickets and gave away just 30 runs.

Most Valuable Player:

Jofra Archer, the Rajasthan Royals all-rounder was recognized as the Most Valuable Player of the season. Unfortunately, the English player wasn’t able to help his team qualify for the knockouts. However, he did show a great game of cricket as he batted and bowled really well. Apart from that, he also took some really good catches as he was honored with this title.
