Suleiman Kangangi is the latest victim of cycling accidents involving professional athletes. In 2017, Belgian cyclist Tom Boonen was killed after being involved in a high-speed crash during the Liège-Bastogne-Liège race. The following year, Italian rider Vincenzo Nibali was seriously injured after being involved in an accident while winning Paris-Roubaix. And last year, Danish rider Mads Kristoffersen suffered serious head injuries when he crashed during stage 6 of the Tour de France.

This spate of cycling accidents has raised concerns about cyclists’ safety, with some calling for stricter regulation and better training standards for professionals. While there is no single answer to preventing these crashes, it is clear that we need to do more to make sure that riders are safe and protected on the roads.
