Nolan Gorman hits a home run

Alex Bregman and Yainer Diaz hit home runs in the eighth inning, helping the Houston Astros beat the St. Louis Cardinals 7-4 on Monday night.

Bregman expressed his joy about the team effort, emphasizing the importance of each player’s contribution to the win. His homer, the fifth in seven games and his ninth of the season, tied the game at 4.

Diaz, with Jake Meyers on base, followed suit with a homer, his fourth of the year and first since April 11, giving the team a boost. Diaz admitted feeling relieved, highlighting the significance of confidence in baseball.

Chas McCormick capitalized on an error and Jose Altuve’s double, extending the Astros’ lead.

Justin Verlander pitches to the first inning

Despite St. Louis manager Oliver Marmol acknowledging the Astros’ strong bullpen and the tough night for pitcher JoJo Romero, the Cardinals struggled to recover.

The Astros also saw contributions from Yordan Alvarez, whose two-run homer helped secure the win, especially after Kyle Tucker exited the game due to injury. Tucker reassured fans about his condition, confirming negative X-ray results.

On the Cardinals’ side, Nolan Gorman’s two homers and Alec Burleson’s contribution weren’t enough to turn the tide as they suffered their third loss in four games. Burleson’s early homer and Nolan Arenado’s RBI single initially gave the Cardinals a lead.
