Anthony Rendon in the field

Los Angeles Angels third baseman Anthony Rendon was taken out of the game in the fourth inning on Friday night against the Atlanta Braves because of a bruised right elbow.

Rendon, who often deals with injuries, has only played in 41 games this season and was hitless in his last 12 at-bats.

He missed 68 games earlier this year due to a strained left hamstring and eight games a few weeks ago because of lower back inflammation.

At 34 years old, Rendon has not played more than 58 games in any of his five seasons with the Angels since he signed a seven-year, $245 million contract.
