Minnesota Twins starter Joe Ryan left the game in the third inning on Wednesday afternoon against the Cubs due to tightness in his right triceps.

Ryan was four pitches into his at-bat with leadoff hitter Pete Crow-Armstrong when he stepped off the mound.

After a brief discussion with the training staff, he exited the game and was replaced by Trevor Richards. Ryan had thrown 33 pitches before leaving.

Ryan (7-7, 3.60 ERA) was aiming for his second consecutive win. He allowed a solo home run to Michael Busch in the first inning but got out the next six batters he faced.
