Cleveland Guardians vs Boston Red Sox

Will Brennan smashed a pinch-hit, two-run home run in the seventh inning as the Cleveland Guardians secured a 6-0 victory over the Red Sox on Monday during Boston’s traditional Patriots’ Day game.

José Ramirez and Gabriel Arias also contributed with RBI doubles for Cleveland, who have started the season strong with an 8-2 record on the road.

The Red Sox, sporting their white jerseys with red “Boston” lettering inspired by the game following the Boston Marathon bombings in 2013, struggled at the plate, managing only three hits.

In the eighth inning, Boston left fielder Tyler O’Neill had to exit the game after colliding with third baseman Rafael Devers while both were chasing a shallow pop-up.

Making his season debut after being on the injured list due to a viral illness, Guardians starter Xzavion Curry held the Red Sox to just two singles over five innings.
