The Los Angeles Angels have placed infielder Luis Rengifo on the injured list for the second time this season because of inflammation in his right wrist. This decision was made before Saturday night’s game against the New York Mets.

Rengifo missed 15 games last month because of wrist issues. The injury flared up again during an at-bat in the eighth inning on Wednesday against Colorado. He also had to leave Friday’s game against the Mets in the fifth inning due to the same problem.

Rengifo was hitting .315, third in the majors, when he first went on the injured list on July 4. After returning, he went 6 for 32 in nine games, which dropped his average to .300.

To fill his spot on the roster, the Angels have called up infielder Charles Leblanc from Triple-A Salt Lake.
