Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Puka Nacua is listed as week-to-week after injuring his knee in a joint practice against the Chargers on Sunday. However, coach Sean McVay expects him to be ready for the season opener against Detroit on September 8.

“Really just had a little bit of a bursa sac kind of burst, and it’s just going to be week to week with him,” McVay said Tuesday. “Nothing serious, nothing structurally. He’ll be in good shape and he’ll recover and we’ll be ready to go. No threat of anything for Detroit.”

Nacua took advantage of Cooper Kupp’s hamstring injury during training camp last season, leading to a standout rookie year with 105 catches for 1,486 yards and six touchdowns after being drafted in the fifth round from BYU.

The injury occurred when Nacua attempted to make a catch during a red zone drill, according to McVay. Nacua continued practicing until he felt discomfort in his knee and had to leave the workout early at the Chargers’ new facility in El Segundo, California.
