The New York Jets brought back safety Ashtyn Davis on Thursday, securing an important player for both defense and special teams.

Davis, a third-round selection from Cal in 2020, has mostly served as a backup in his NFL career but has shown his talent whenever he’s been given the chance.

Last season, despite limited playing time, he managed to make six takeaways, including three interceptions and three fumble recoveries and defended eight passes.

In the upcoming season, Davis will join Tony Adams, Chuck Clark (who returned after missing last season due to injury), and Jarrick Bernard-Converse as key players in the Jets’ safety position.

Additionally, Davis has proven himself as a standout on special teams, leading the Jets last season with a total of 12 tackles in special teams’ play.
