With veteran left tackle Tyron Smith set to depart from Dallas in free agency, New England emerges as a potential destination.

According to MassLive.com, the Patriots are poised to pursue Smith once free agency commences next week.

New England finds itself in need of a left tackle, particularly with Trent Brown’s contract expiring and his expected departure this off-season following a season marked by dissatisfaction between both Brown and the team.

At 33 years old, Smith boasts an impressive resume, having earned two first-team All-Pro selections, eight Pro Bowl nods, and a spot on the NFL’s 2010s All-Decade team.

Regarded as one of the premier offensive linemen of recent years, Smith’s departure from the Cowboys signals a potential opportunity for the Patriots to capitalize on his remaining talent.
