Toronto Maple Leafs defeats Boston Bruins, evening the series at 1-1

Auston Matthews scored a goal on a breakaway with eight minutes remaining in the third period, helping the Toronto Maple Leafs secure a 3-2 victory over the Boston Bruins on Monday night. This win tied their first-round playoff series at one game each.

Ilya Samsonov made 27 saves for Toronto, breaking their eight-game losing streak against Boston that lasted for 534 days since November 2022.

Max Domi and John Tavares also scored for the Maple Leafs. The team hasn’t defeated the Bruins in a playoff series since 1959.

Boston’s goals were scored by Morgan Geekie and David Pastrnak. Linus Ullmark, who started in goal despite Jeremy Swayman’s win in Game 1, stopped 30 shots.

Game 3 will take place on Wednesday night in Toronto.
