On 13th September, the 7-year ban imposed on Sreesanth by the Board of Control for Cricket in India has finally ended and the player is ready to get on the field again. Sreesanth has given many statements regarding the current situation. The player has been training since May. He was really excited to play again. But, the 37-year old was devastated when he got to know that the sport will not take place for a long time due to the ongoing pandemic. Sreesanth was also going to start a local league in Kerala. However, owing to the rising cases in the state, he had to call it off.

In 2013, Sreesanth was banned from the sport along with his Rajasthan Royals teammates Ajit Chandila and Ankeet Chavan. They were involved in spot-fixing in the Indian Premier League (IPL). The ban imposed was for a lifetime but the suspension was eventually reduced to 7 years. Sreesanth has stated that he is massively relieved and looks forward to getting back on the pitch as soon as possible. Sreesanth also thought of announcing his retirement after he came to know that the game got postponed in the country. He is already 37 years but he has dropped the idea of getting retired. He stated that his first aim is to work on his physicality. The coach of Kerala has even stated that Sreesanth is welcome to the team only if he works on his form and fitness.

Who is S. Sreesanth?
Shanthakumaran Nair Sreesanth is an Indian Cricketer who plays as a medium-fast pacer for the Indian National Cricket Team. He also used to play for Kerala and the IPL franchise Rajasthan Royals before getting suspended from the game for 7 years in 2013. He is a right-arm fast bowler and a right-handed batsman. Sreesanth was not always a fast bowler. He used to be a spinner imitating his idol Anil Kumble. But, he used to bowl great yorkers and decided to be a fast bowler after listening to his elder brother.

In 2016, he decided to join politics. He stood up for the elections after joining the Bharatiya Janata Party in Kerala assembly elections from Thiruvananthapuram but lost to V.S. Sivakumar from Congress. Sreesanth has also acted in a Hindi movie called ‘Aksar 2’ and also a Malayalam movie called ‘Team 5’. He is a great cricketer and his ban was a huge loss to the Indian cricket team but there is no room for match-fixing or money laundering which totally spoils the thrill and spirit of the sport.
