Casper Ruud delighted fans at the Los Cabos Open with a touch of Spanish during his runner-up speech after falling to Jordan Thompson in the final on Saturday, February 24.

Ruud found himself trailing early in the opening set as Thompson secured a gritty hold to kick off the proceedings. Despite Ruud’s efforts, Thompson managed to break him in the sixth game, ultimately securing the set.

The second set witnessed a tight battle, with both players exchanging breaks twice. In the end, Thompson clinched the championship with a 6-3, 7-6(4) victory after a two-hour and four-minute match.

Although Ruud had to settle for the runner-up trophy, he charmed the audience during his speech by speaking some Spanish, earning loud cheers. He shared his experiences of playing golf and enjoying tacos during his time in Los Cabos.

Ruud’s Mexican journey continues as he prepares for the Mexican Open as the sixth seed. His first match against Christopher Eubanks is scheduled for February 27, in Acapulco.

In closing his speech, Ruud bid farewell to the Los Cabos crowd and expressed his excitement for the upcoming tournament in Acapulco, hoping to see some familiar faces there.
