Roberto Carballes Baena has intensified his criticism of the “dangerous” court conditions at the Chile Open.

In the ATP 250 event’s first round at Club Deportivo Universidad Catolica on Tuesday, February 27, Baena faced off against Corentin Moutet. Struggling to adapt to the challenging court conditions, the Spanish player engaged in disputes with the referee and ultimately suffered a disappointing 6-3, 5-7, 6-2 defeat against Moutet.

Following the match, Baena expressed visible frustration and squarely blamed the court for his loss. The 30-year-old went as far as calling for the tournament’s cancellation, labeling it a “shame” that the ATP required players to compete on such a hazardous surface.

Expressing his discontent further, Baena took to social media on Wednesday, sharing a video clip from his match against Moutet. In the clip, a backhand shot from the Frenchman resulted in the ball barely bouncing due to the uneven surface.

“Where’s the @atptour limit? Unplayable and dangerous tracks for players,” Baena wrote on his Instagram stories, extending his protest against the tournament’s conditions.
