Wimbledon 2022 Day 14: Novak Wins His 7th Title, Beats Kyrgios In The Final

Wimbledon 2022 Day 14 brought joy for Novak Djokovic as he celebrated his 7th title at the Centre Court. He beat Nick Kyrgios of Australia in four sets and reached his first-ever grand slam final. This is Novak’s fourth consecutive Wimbledon title, a magnificent record. It was not an easy road for Novak to the final. In the first round, he lost a set against his South Korean opponent. Then, in the second and third rounds, he found his rhythm and won the matches in straight sets. In the fourth round, he had difficulties but still managed to win the match in straight sets. His quarter-final match against the Italian J.Sinner was probably the toughest. He was two sets down, and it genuinely felt it was the end of his run, but destiny was something. From out of nowhere, Djokovic won the remaining sets. In the semi-final, he broke the British dream by defeating the crowd’s favorite, Cameron Norrie, who was making his first semi-final appearance.

As for Nick Kyrgios, it wasn’t an easy ride either. He had his first five-set match in the first round itself. In the third round, he faced his nemesis  Stefanos Tsitsipas in an exciting encounter. Kyrgios won the match in four sets, making a statement of intent. After a series of tough matches, he faced another five-set match in the quarter-final against his American counterpart, B. Nakashima. For the longest time, this version of Kyrgios was missing in tennis. The intensity, desire, and passion he showed in this tournament were hardly ever seen before. He earned the right to be in the semi-final of Wimbledon. Unfortunately, the semi-final clash against Rafael Nadal did not happen because he withdrew from the competition due to an injury. Kyrgios was awarded a walkover in return.

Wimbledon 2022 Day 14: Match Recap

It was Wimbledon 2022 Day 14, Novak Djokovic Vs Nick Kyrgios final. Only a handful of people would have anticipated this to be the final. But the fact was, both the players deserved to be in the final. Novak who made comebacks in the previous two rounds after losing sets, and Nick, who had his fair share of final set moments. The match started on a bad note for Djokovic, and like in previous rounds, he lost the first set. It looked like the final would go the distance, but Novak had other plans. The match was tough, Nick was hitting ace after ace. He found his rhythm and was serving really well.

Wimbledon 2022 Day 14 Match Recap 1
Novak Wins

The highlight still were the returns of those serves. Incredible, to say the least, how Djokovic manages to return the service better than anybody in the game. It was because of this that he was able to neutralize Nick’s serves and create a difference. Djokovic replied by winning the second set comfortably. The audience and the viewers wanted more action, so they wanted an even more close contest. But credit to Novak, the way he played did not get affected by any of the mental games by Kyrgios.

The Third And Fourth Set

The third set looked equal till the score was 4-4. In the ninth game, Djokovic came back from 40-0 to win five consecutive points and won the game. The 10th game was his serve, and closed the set, winning it 4-6. The fourth set followed the same highlights of the third, except this time, Nick did not lose his ninth game. He took the set to tie-breakers, eventually losing the set and the match 6-7.

Wimbledon 2022 Day 10: Rafa Never Gives Up, Sets His Semi-final Clash With Kyrgios.

Wimbledon 2022 Day 10 just gave everything the tennis fans were hoping for. Rafa was suffering, in pain, and was 1-2 down in the match. But like every other time, he managed, and he managed it well. In five sets, he finished off the match, the fifth going to the tie-breaker. In the tie-breaker, Nadal looked at his absolute, made the least number of unforced errors, and won it 10-4. Despite carrying an injury from the second set onwards and restrictions in his movements, he somehow found a way against such a tough opponent, T . Fritz. The American was in exceptional form leading up to the quarter-finals. He did not lose a set a single set in his previous four rounds against formidable opponents. With this win, Rafa is now two matches close to his third grand slam trophy of the year. He will be left with only US Open to complete his career grand slam.

Novak Djokovic has already booked his place in the semi-finals the previous day. He came back two sets down to complete the comeback. J Sinner from Italy was his opponent who played his heart out but couldn’t covert. Probably, the extra pressure of playing the #1 got to him, and he crumbled. Sinner was just one set away from victory but couldn’t convert. Credit to players like Novak and Rafa for never giving up and proving their worth time and again. Earlier today, Nick Kyrgios made history by reaching his first-ever grand slam semi-final. He played his quarter-final match against C.Garin. It was Garin’s first quarter-final appearance in a grand slam, and it was too overwhelming for him. Nick showed great temperament and overpowered Garin. He won the match in straight sets.

Wimbledon 2022 Day 10:Rafa’s Mental Toughness Yet Again Vs Fritz

It was again one of those days in Wimbledon 2022 Day 10, where Rafa was almost down and out but still managed to pick himself up. There was no reason for him to win it, but he did it anyway. The match started on a bad note for Nadal. Fritz definitely outplayed him in the first set, did not give him any room to play his shots. The American managed to win the first set 3-6. The second was even worse for Rafa in terms of his fitness. He suffered abdominal pain, for which he had to take a timeout. There was tension inside the stadium as people felt that it could be his last moment in the game.

Rafael Nadal

But as we all have seen time and again in the past, he came back, struggled, but found his way back into the game. With great difficulties, he won the second set, 7-5. Fritz was in no mood to sit back, though. His game in the third showed he had been so successful off-late. The third went to Fritz 3-6. The fourth set was an intense one as both the players were going toe to toe, breaking each other. Somehow, Rafa found that break he needed and won the fourth 7-5. The fifth set followed a similar story and the set went into a tie-break. In the tie-break, Rafa looked in complete control and finished the comeback, winning the fifth 7-6(10-4).

Semi-Final With Kyrgios

Earlier in the day, Nick Kyrgios won his quarter-final against C.Garin. Nick won the match in straight sets and will now face Rafael Nadal in the semi-final. These two have had their clashes in the past, and it will be interesting to see the outcome on Friday.

Wimbledon 2022 Day 10: Rafa Faces Fritz And Kyrgios Fights A Newcomer

Wimbledon 2022 Day 10 promises to bring more intense action after an amazing end to day 9. We saw terrific performances from the evergreen Novak Djokovic, the history creator Norrie, and O. Jabeur. Both Novak and Norrie won their games in five sets and Jabeur also lost her first set but won the remaining two. Day 10 has to have a similar sort of atmosphere to create the quarter-final feeling. Rafa will be facing Fritz who has shown great promise, reaching the last-eight. His round-of-16 match was a testimony of what he is capable of. Fritz’s power could a problem for Rafa if he doesn’t find his, early on in the match. The fans are expecting a thriller from Rafa, as his games are usually very interesting.

Nick Kyrgios has played brilliantly so far in the tournament and has had two, five sets encounter already. His first-round match went the distance as well as the round-of-16 match. Fatigue could be a factor coming into the quarter-final when he faces C.Garin, an unseeded player, making it to the last-eight for the first time in his career. The Chilian is ready to make Nick play at his best in order to reach the semi-finals. This could turn out to be much closer than we all are guessing. The Chilian might produce a brilliant set of tennis and Nick has to be at his best.

Let’s have a look at the journey of players so far.

Wimbledon 2022 Day 10: Can Rafa Overpower Fritz’s Power? Nick Faces A Strong Test

Wimbledon 2022 Day 10 will witness some power clash between Rafael Nadal and Fritz. The way Fritz is hitting those balls deep into the baseline with power is a great reflection of his power. His hard-hitting stroked were brutal for his round-of-16 opponent. The opponent didn’t have an answer to those shots. Rafa, as we all know, has one of the strongest forehands in the history of tennis. The overspin he gets in his shots is already difficult for the players to hit, when combined with power becomes almost impossible. It will be great to see who comes on top. Rafa will also be keeping in mind, Novak’s comeback yesterday. This could be another source of inspiration for him to perform better.

Wimbledon 2022 Day 10 Rafa Vs Fritz

As far as the journey is concerned, Rafa’s first two rounds were a little nervy. In both the rounds, he lost a set each. Maybe that was needed in order to get him going and we saw that happening. In the third round, Rafa won it in straight sets. Rafa won the round-of-16 match in straight sets as well. Coming to Fritz, he has sensational. He has not lost a set coming into the quarter-finals of Wimbledon. This is such an impressive feat. Every round Fritz has won it in straight sets which clearly shows his form in this tournament. It is likely that this match would go down to the wire and the fans really expect that.

Nick Faces C. Garin

Nick Kyrgios Vs C.Garin

Nick has had a roller coaster ride so far in the tournament but still managed it to the quarter-finals. Now, he faces his Chilian challenge in C. Garin. There is a feeling that this match would also be an extremely tough match and looks like anybody’s game. We all need to be present today, to witness these epic encounters.

Wimbledon 2022 Day 8: Rafa Wins In Straight Sets, Kyrgios And Halep Are Through

Wimbledon 2022 Day 8, another day of entertaining tennis. Rafael Nadal wins his round-of-16 match against Botic van de Zandschulp. Now he is through to the tournament’s quarterfinals and has his eyes set on the final, at least. Nick Kyrgios made court one stand on their feet as his game was the day’s game. It was a five-set encounter that lasted for more than three hours. He was against the American Brandon Nakashima, who managed to beat Denis in his journey to the round-of-16. He almost did it against Nick, but it seems Nick is on a terrific run. His desire in this tournament is entirely different than all the other tournaments in the past. His win could set a potential quarter or semi-final match against Rafa.

Simona Halep also made it to the quarters by defeating P. Badosa of Spain. Badosa had a great run in the competition and was a higher-seeded player than Halep, but it turned out to be a straight-set win for the Romanian. Day 8 had seen Novak and Sinner winning their respective matches. Sinner knocked out the teenage boy wonder Alcaraz who looked good in the tournament except in the first round. Novak and Sinner will be up against each other in the quarterfinals, which is expected to be a great competition.

Let’s deeply look at the matches in Wimbledon 2022 Day 8.

Wimbledon 2022 Day 8: Rafa Wins In Straight Sets, Nick Had A Ride

Rafael Nadal had a pretty solid round-of-16 match in Wimbledon 2022 Day 8. After two tough tournament opening rounds, it looks like Rafa has found his rhythm. He was very comfortable in the third-round encounter against L. Sonego from Italy. Before the match, it seemed that it might be a very tough encounter, but it wasn’t. Rafa completely controlled the competition and took away the game in straight sets. This match was almost the same as the previous one.

Wimbledon 2022 Day 8 Rafael Nadal

Rafael Nadal took control early in the match against Botic van de Zandschulp. Rafa kept an edge against his opponent in the first set and, with a single break, managed to win the set 6-4. The second set had a different ring as compared to the first. It was a lot more controlled set from Rafa. He dominated the rallies, shots, and everything he asked. He won the second set 6-2. The last set was a 100% effort by the Dutch, but it was too little too late.

 Wimbledon 2022:Nick Had A Five-Set Match Again.

Wimbledon 2022 Day 8 Nick Kyrgios

Nick Kyrgios was against Brandon Nakashima, who defeated Denis in the previous rounds. He played better than he ever played in any majors. It took Nick five sets to beat this guy. The match was tough from the word to go, as Nakashima took the first set 6-4. Nick bounced back in the second, winning it 4-6. The third set was very intense, with Nick winning it in the tie-break 6-7. Nakashima was not ready to leave the party so soon. He returned strong in the fourth 6-3 and took the match to the final set. In the last stage, Nick outperformed Nakashima 2-6 and won the game in a thrilling encounter.

Simona Wins It Against Badosa

Simona Halep Wimbledon 2022 Day 8

Simona Halep was the favorite to win her round-of-16 match. It was the Spaniard Badosa who was #4 in the competition. She played exceptionally well in the tournament but found herself against Simona. People anticipated the match to be competitive, but it turned out to be one-sided. Simona completely dominated Badosa and won the match in straight sets. There was nothing Badosa did that harmed Simona, and the former champions won the game 6-1,6-2.

Wimbledon 2022 Day 6: 37 Match Streak Ends For Iga, Rafa Shows Dominance

Wimbledon 2022 Day 6 was a disaster for world no 1. Iga Swiatek could not continue her 37-match winning streak as she was defeated by her French opponent. A. Cornet, the unseeded 32-year-old, is having her best tennis year so far. The past few months have been really great for her, and this win just adds the cherry on top. Iga showed tremendous dominance for more than four months before losing this match. Her dream of winning the tournament ended in the third round. Rafael Nadal won his match quite comfortably against his Italian opponent L. Sonego. The Italian was #27 in the tournament but proved to be no match for Rafa. He is now through to the second week of the tournament, a big sigh of relief for his fans.

Apart from the above-mentioned matches, the most exciting match of all was Nick Kyrgios Vs Stefano Tsitsipas. The match went similar to how people anticipated the match would go. Nick managed to beat Stefano in four sets, but it was very intense. Both the players have a bitter history on the court, and it clearly showed during the match. Day 5 marked Novak’s and Alcaraz’s win in the third round. It became increasingly important for Rafa to win the match and stay alive in the tournament. As of now, Novak and Rafa are looking set to play straight in the final of Wimbledon if all goes well.

Wimbledon 2022 Day 6: Iga Finally Lost, Rafa Advances

It was a terrible day for Iga Swiatek in Wimbledon 2022, day 6. She lost her third-round encounter against A. Cornet in straight sets. She couldn’t even make a comeback in the match and was dominated by Cornet the entire match. The world number 1 faced a humiliating defeat as she could not even win more than 6 games in two sets. At least the first set was a little tougher for Cornet to win. Iga looked to be in the game for the majority of the set. Cornet had to stick to her game plan and eventually won the set 4-6. The second set was a disaster for Swiatek. She did not look like her usual self, and Cornet took advantage of that. She won the second set 2-6.

Wimbledon 2022 Day 6 Iga Loses
Wimbledon 2022 Day 6 Iga Loses

From the word go, Rafa dominated his match against L.Sonego. This Rafa looked completely different from his first two matches. He was aggressive from the start, made very less errors, and it looked as if he gained momentum on the grass. The first set was the easiest for Rafa, which he won 6-1. The second set almost managed the same story, though Soreno managed to win an extra game. Rafa won the second set 6-2. The third set saw some fight from the Italian, but it wasn’t enough for the pumped-up Rafa. He wrapped up the match, winning the final set 6-4.

Nick Kyrgios Vs Stefano Tsitsipas

If you have followed tennis in recent years, you all know what relationship Nick and Tsitsipas share. They have been vocally critical of each other, saying nasty comments. It definitely translated on the court as well. Without a doubt, the match was brilliant in terms of the quality of tennis. Both players gave it their all and showed the fight that the audience wanted to see. Finally, it was Nick who won the battle in four sets.

Novak has already made his way through, and Sinner knocked out Alcaraz, this must-have put Nadal on a mission to win his round-of-16 match. His opponent is from Netherlands, Botic van de Zandschulp. He is #21 in the tournament and has played decent tennis in the tournament so far. Rafa also showed tremendous improvement by winning in straight sets against a seeded player in the third round. Now his target is to win the fourth and reach the quarterfinals. The chances of winning the career grand slam still remain active for Rafa, just one round at a time.

Nick Kyrgios will also be in action today. He defeated Stefano Tsitsipas in the highly anticipated third-round encounter. It was a tough match, as expected, but Kyrgios made sure he gave the audience what they wanted. In four sets, he beat the Greek freak. As we all know that Rafa is a fighter, and he will continue to fight till the end, this round is very important for him to reach the quarters. He is back in London after 2019 and has won this prestigious tournament two times already. But it was been more than a decade since he last won this title. This must be in his mind, even though he will never admit it. He would like to increase the grand slam gap between him, Novak, and Federer to three slams.

When he was 14 years old, he completely shifted his focus to tennis. It was probably a better decision for him as he became very good at it. In 2013, at the age of 18, he turned pro. From the beginning, he had a different style compared to other players and that was his USP. He has six career titles to his name and unfortunately represents the generation that has not been able to sideline the likes of Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic, and Rafael Nadal.

Wimbledon 2022 Day 6: Iga And Rafa Need To Step Up Now

Wimbledon 2022 Day 6 is today and entry to the second week of the tournament is just a round away. Rafael Nadal and Iga Swiatek have their matches today and their fans are expecting a lot better performance from them. They both underperformed in their last encounter and showed some weakness. They even lost a set but managed to win in the end. As for Rafa, in his first two rounds, he has lost a set each. He doesn’t look at his best yet and his fans want him to make it to the second week of the tournament. With more matches, we all are sure that Rafa will find his form. Iga also looks a bit tense in her games. The fact that she is on a 37-match winning streak might be putting her under a little extra pressure.

But the mouthwatering clash on day 6 is definitely Nick Kyrgios vs Stefano Tsitsipas. Nick is unseeded in the tournament and this is the reason why these two are facing each other so early in the tournament. Nick faced a tough challenge in his opening round which he narrowly won in five sets. Tsitsipas on the other hand has started strong. In both the rounds, he has had a comfortable win. Now it will be very interesting to see what happens in the third round of Wimbledon 2022.

Let’s have a look at today’s matches.

Wimbledon 2022 Day 6: Rafa Faces L. Sonego And Iga Vs A. Cornet

Wimbledon 2022 Day 6 will be headlining with Rafa’s third-round encounter with L.Sonego. The #27 seed has been good so far, making it to the third round. The way Rafa is playing right now is not a good visual. It took Rafa four sets in both rounds to win against the unseeded players. He will have to work a lot harder to have a good chance against the Italian. If Rafa manages to reach the second week of Wimbledon, then the tournament will be more interesting than ever before. Novak and Alcaraz are already at the doorsteps of the second week. There is no way Rafa would like to be left behind.

Rafael Nadal
Rafael Nadal

Iga Swiatek had an easy first round and a very difficult second round. She doesn’t like the Iga we have seen in recent times. But this is what champions are made of. They still find a way to win even when they don’t play at their best. This applies to both Iga and Rafa. Swiatek has her match against France’s A. Cornet. Though unseeded in the tournament she must not be taken lightly at any cost. She is on a 37-match winning streak and will look to make it 38 today.

Kyrgios Vs Tsitsipas

This will probably be the best match of Wimbledon 2022, Day 6. These two players share history with each other. They have had altercations in the past and then later even showed friendly gestures to each other. Apart from this, they are really good tennis players. Their recent form has not been great and this is a perfect opportunity to test each other. Make sure you don’t miss one. It has the potential to go the distance.

Wimbledon 2022 Day 4: Nadal And Iga Struggles, Kyrgios, And Tsitsipas Storms Through

Wimbledon 2022 Day 4 didn’t show any major upsets but was a lesson for the top players. Rafael Nadal and Iga Swiatek looked far from their best as they struggled to win their respective matches. Going into round 3 of Wimbledon, this performance from one of the best will not be accepted. The competition is getting tougher with each round and it is time to pull up the socks. The majority of the top seeds are through to round 3. Interestingly, only #12 and #13 ie Diego and Denis lost their respective matches. Such a strange coincidence for back-to-back seeds to lose in the same round. Other than that there were no major upsets. The pool of players is reducing with each passing day as the competition gets more intense.

As we all saw Day 3 of Wimbledon was just full of upsets. #2 seed Kontaviet lost her round 2 match in a disappointing fashion. The most celebrated British player Andy Murray lost to John Isner after trying hard to stay in the match. The teenage sensation and US Open champion Emma Raducanu also lost her match against Carolina Garcia who was simply on fire. This leaves other unseeded British players and #9 seed Cameron Norrie. He was the only one who narrowly survived in his round 2 encounter. Novak had an easier game in comparison to others and #3 seed Ruud crashed out in 4 sets.

A detailed look at all the matches that concluded on day 4.

Wimbledon 2022 Day 4: Rafa Vs Berankis, Iga Vs Kerkhove

Rafael Nadal faced his opponent Ricardas Berankis in round 2 of Wimbledon 2022 day 4. Nadal was expected to have an easy win after being tested by the Argentinian in round 1. It started off tough, both players testing out each other. To everyone’s surprise, the Lithuanian was playing solid, countering Rafa on each point. Somehow, Nadal managed to find a loophole, winning the set 6-4. The second set followed the exact story, almost the same.

Wimbledon 2022 Day 4 Rafa Wins
Rafael Nadal

However, Rafa again managed to find that single blindspot and won the second set 6-4. The fans felt safe after he had a two-set lead over his opponent. The third set started on a completely different note. Nadal lost his serve in the beginning and found himself trailing the entire set. With a break in hand, Berankis took the third set 4-6. It was time Rafa had enough of this. He came out storming in the fourth set and did not give any chance to his opponent. That was what the fans were looking for, that sharp intensity and shot-making ability. Rafael Nadal won the match 6-4 6-4 4-6 and 6-3.

Wimbeldon 2022 Day 4 Iga Wins
Kerkhove

Iga Swiatek also faced a tough challenge on day 4. She was against L. Kerkhove of Nedtherlands. The first set, much like Rafa’s was tough but she somehow managed to win it 6-4. She took a real beating in the second set losing it 4-6. The third was where she showed her class and won it 6-3. She is now on 37 matches winning streak.

Nick Kygios And Tsitsipas Have It Easy

Nick Kyrgios and Tsitsipas won their matches quite comfortably without losing any set on day 4 of Wimbledon. The Aussie faced #26 Filip Krajinović. It turned out to be the complete opposite of what everyone thought. Kyrgios won the match with ease in straight sets. Tsitsipas also won the match easily in straight sets against his Australian opponent Jordan Thompson.

That is it for now. We will be back with more updates on Wimbledon soon.

Wimbledon 2022 Day 4: Players In Action

Wimbledon 2022, day 4 is here. A lot of matches to look forward to. It has become a daily routine now, to switch in the tv, tune in to the sports channel and watch our favorite players. The level of tennis is up there, upsets, and crazy wins, everything a part of it. We have already witnessed so many ups and downs in the first three days and we don’t even get the time to take a breather. Day 1,2 and 3 saw Novak and Rafa pushing themselves to advance to the next rounds. Andy Murray making a comeback and winning his first round. Ruud advanced and then lost his grip and finally crashed in the second round. A lot of it is happening at such a fast pace but I am trying to keep up with it to provide you with all the updates.

The Brits have been hit hard. Andy and Emma have made their exits from Wimbledon after crushing defeats in round 2. Only Cameron Norrie made it through to round 3 after surviving an epic 5 set thriller. Ruud has big the tournament goodbye after losing his second-round match in four sets. Iga Swiatek after winning her first-round quite comfortably comes back for the second round today. Serena Williams could not repeat her glory year and crashed out in the first round. But credit to her, she really gave a tough fight. Rafa makes an appearance today.

Let’s have a look in detail at the matches that are happening today on day 4 of Wimbledon 2022.

Wimbledon 2022 Day 4: Rafa In Action, Swiatek Looking For 37th Straight Win

Rafael Nadal will be in action today, Day 4 of Wimbledon 2022. He is against the unseeded Lithuanian R. Berankis. Not a lot has been written for the youngster but congratulations for making it to the second round. He has the perfect opportunity to test Rafa, as he has struggled in the first three rounds of Wimbledon in the past. If that doesn’t happen then Rafa definitely makes it to the semi-finals, on most occasions. But with Novak’s victory yesterday, Rafa would be more pumped up to win the match. He can’t let the opportunity slip.

Iga Swiatek will be playing against the Dutch player Lesley Pattinama Kerkhove. Similar to Rafa, Iga’s opponent is also unseeded and not a lot about her has been written. This makes it even more important for Iga and is more prepared. Yesterday’s eviction of top seeds like Kontaviet and Emma must have given her some sort of perspective. She will have this in her mind for sure when she enters the court today.

Other Top Seeds Today

Nick Kyrgios, Stefano Tsitsipas, and Denis have their matches today. In the first round Nick survived a five-set encounter and today he will be facing #26 seeded Filip Krajinović. The Serbian might become a problem for Nick since he has a habit of becoming casual sometimes.  #4 seed Tsitsipas is up against J. Thompson from Australia. Thompson is unseeded and Tsitsipas should be able to make it through to the next round. Denis has his match against Nakashima from America. The #13 seeded Canadian should not have a problem going to round 3 after today’s match. P. Badosa, Simona Halep, and C. Gauff are looking to make it through to round 3 as well.

It should be an interesting day of tennis for all the fans.

Wimbledon 2022: Players To Watch Out For Part 2

There is a lot of hype around Wimbledon 2022 for various reasons. Fans, including tennis players, are disappointed with the exclusion of Russian and Belarussian athletes. They have expressed it publicly, but nothing can be done now. First time in Wimbledon’s 135 years of history, first and second-ranked players are not participating in the men’s category. This leaves Novak Djokovic #1 seed coming into the tournament. World No 2 Alexander Zverev had a horrific ankle injury in the semi-finals of the French Open and has just undergone surgery, so he is certainly out. As for Rafa, the current situation tells that this week he has started practicing a little. With less than 10 days for the tournament to begin, we hope he makes it in time.

Roger Federer, not participating in the Wimbledon is always a major setback for the tournament. Talking about veterans, Serena Williams is making her comeback in this tournament. A piece of big news for all tennis lovers. Recently, he stated that he will be back to full fitness by September. On the other hand, there are a number of young players along with the veterans participating this time. There is a big responsibility on their shoulders to perform and prove themselves.

In this article, we will talk about the players to watch out for in Wimbledon 2022.

Wimbledon 2022- Players To Watch Out For

Out of 128 players participating in both Men and Women’s categories, a lot of players have reasons to believe in themselves. The competition is wide open and is anybody’s to win. Let’s have a look at the players who can make this tournament theirs.

Serena Williams For Wimbledon 2022

There are never questions whenever Serena is in the cards. The 40-year-old will be back on the grass after a long time. One must appreciate her commitment and love for the game. After achieving almost everything in her career, she is still willing to give more. Such a great thing for the tennis community, and fans can’t wait to see her back in action. She is still a threat, especially on the grass court, and it will be a tough fight for the young guns to take her out.

Casper Rudd

World No 5 and the recent French Open runner-up, Casper Rudd, has all the support from his Norwegian crowd. Rudd has been in scintillating form the past few months. His most recent loss at the Queens must not stop him from believing in himself. He is an exciting prospect and a player to look forward to in the future. Wimbledon 2022 might be his biggest challenge so far in his career.

Marin Cilic

Recurring injuries for the biggy have always been a big concern in his career. Though his recent performances have shown what he is capable of. On his day, he has beaten almost all the top tennis players. His performance in the French Open was also brilliant, as he made it to the semis. He is a decent grass court player, and his current form can be a threat to others, not to be taken lightly. Big serves and big forehands will certainly play a big part.

Anett Kontaveit

The Estonian sensation can pose a big threat to Iga Swaitek’s title chances in Wimbledon 2022. She is ranked #2 in the world and is looking confident coming into the tournament. With Serena Williams’s entry after a long time, the women’s category looks even more exciting. Both Anett and I will have to work their socks off. They are the present and future of women’s tennis. Hope they develop a wonderful rivalry to keep fans glued to their seats and screens.

Stefanos Tsitsipas

World No 6 has been in disappointing form lately, adding his latest loss to Nick Kyrgios in the Queens. Still 23, Tsitsipas has still a long way to go, and Wimbledon can be a resurgence. He has all the qualities to be a Grand Slam winner but what he is lacking is his Mojo. Once he gets that back, he can be unstoppable. Many people might not like him, but his talent is something no one can neglect. Hopefully, Stefanos comes out of his shell and plays fearless tennis in Wimbledon.

Nick Kyrgios

The notorious Aussie often talked about his bad behavior compared to tennis is not someone to ignore. The unorthodox player has temper issues, but his talent is a fact. If he focuses in the right direction and shows the obsession to win every time he steps on the court, he can be a top player. Playing on grass suits him, and he can upset any player on his day. He genuinely has that capability to reach the top. He needs to work on his inside-the-court demeanor and be more committed to his game. Only the sky is the limit, then.

Felix Auger-Aliassime

His recent performance against Rafael Nadal in the quarter-finals of the French Open earned him praises. He took a real test of Rafa’s clay-court capabilities, the only player to take him to five sets in that tournament. Though he lost, he certainly looked very strong. Now coached by Tony Nadal, uncle and former coach of Nadal, he sure knows how to make a player into a winner. Now only 21, Felix has a bright future, and we wish him the best for Wimbledon 2022.

Paula Badosa

The Spanish no 1 and world no 3, Paula Badosa, is coming into Wimbledon with high expectations. Her 2022 has been a mixed year so far, and the entire Spanish crowd will be behind her and Rafa to bring home the grasscourt title. The 24-year-old has a massive career in front of her, and it should only go higher. She will be facing tough competition from Iga, Anett, and of course, Serena. Wishing her best wishes for the Wimbledon campaign.
