Paul Merson Criticizes Mauricio Pochettino for His Comments About a Chelsea Player Earning £200,000 Per Week

Paul Merson has said that Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino should have included Ben Chilwell in the starting lineup against Bournemouth this past weekend. The Sky Sports pundit has said that Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino has got to start Ben Chilwell when he is fit and available.

The former Arsenal star has also said that he does not think that Mykhailo Mudryk should have started against Bournemouth in the Premier League this past weekend. Chelsea played out a goalless draw with Bournemouth away from home. Ukraine international winger Mudryk started the match.

Paul Merson Wants Ben Chilwell to Start for Chelsea

Mudryk showed his quality right away but was unable to make a big impact on the overall game. Chilwell did not start. The England left-back, who earns £200,000 a week (Spotrac), came on as a substitute in the 80th minute.

“We didn’t start Mykhailo Mudryk against Bournemouth,” Merson told Sky Sports. “I didn’t expect Ben Chilwell to not be in the starting XI. In my opinion, he should be the one to pick.”

Ben Chilwell is a Valuable Player for Chelsea

In our opinion, Ben Chilwell is one of Chelsea’s best and most important players. The 26-year-old has had injury problems but is one of the best left-backs when fit. And Chilwell can also play as a left wing-back.

We believe Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino needs to integrate Chilwell into his squad. At 26 years old, he is too good to be a substitute. Chilwell has made 161 appearances in the Premier League during his career. The left-back scored 12 goals, provided 18 assists, and kept 39 clean sheets in these matches.

Now let us head to Arsenal, where Mikel Arteta, the boss, admitted that he did not let Fabio Vieira play as much as he should have. Fabio Vieira did not get to play as long as Mikel Arteta wanted him to.

Arteta said that it is his own fault that Vieira has not played much. He talked to Sky Sports before Arsenal’s match against PSV Eindhoven. Arsenal won a tough game they played with Everton, and now they are focusing on the Champions League.

Fabio Vieira, who started against Everton on Sunday, is hoping to maintain his place in the team. The 23-year-old registered assists against Fulham and Manchester United earlier this season, and Arteta gave him a chance against Everton.

Vieira did not have any additional assists, but he expects to be good enough to play a prominent role on offense.

Paul Merson Shares Thoughts on Arsenal vs. Tottenham Hotspur

Paul Merson, a former football player, has mentioned that Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal team absolutely needs to secure a victory against Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham Hotspur squad in their upcoming match at the Emirates Stadium, which is located in North London, in the Premier League that’s scheduled for this coming weekend.

The person from Sky Sports, who talks about football, thinks that for Arsenal to keep up with Manchester City and have a chance to grab the Premier League this season, they must win the game against Tottenham Hotspur in the North London derby and get all three points.

Paul Merson’s Advice to Arsenal about Tottenham Hotspur

The former Arsenal star also pointed out that Mikel Arteta’s side cannot afford to lose against defending champions City.

Arsenal will play City at home in the league in October.

Arsenal, as we know, are in the fourth place in the Premier League right now. They have 13 points after playing five games. They are two points behind the team at the top, which is City. City won the Premier League, FA Cup, and UEFA Champions League last season.

Merson told Sky Sports: “Arsenal haven’t been very good, winning four and drawing one. Nobody’s perfect, not even Manchester City. “Fulham had a chance against them, and West Ham had a chance the other day.

The team was leading 1-0, and Ederson made a world-class save. “But if Arsenal lose two big games, they can’t win the league, it’s that simple.

“If they lose to Tottenham and Man City, they will be out of the title race at the beginning of October.

“If Arsenal had won any of their games against Manchester City last season and had been in a dangerous situation in their home game in February, they would have won the league.”

Arsenal Should Not Worry if they Lose to Tottenham Hotspur

I don’t think there’s any need to panic about Arsenal not winning the Premier League title, even if they lose to Tottenham Hotspur or Manchester City.

The champion title will not be decided in October. No way. We still have a long way to go.

We know City when it comes to winning games. They are very good, even when they do not play the way we expect them to play. But sometimes, they also lose points. So, City might have a tough time at some point this season.

Paul Merson Admits Something About Tottenham After their Amazing Win Against Sheffield United, and it is Not Easy for Him to Say

“It hurts me to say this,” Paul Merson wrote on Twitter, but was delighted with Tottenham Hotspur’s impressive come-from-behind victory over Sheffield United on Saturday.

Once again, it was Leicester City, but this time, Tottenham fans got to witness the magic unfold in their own stadium.

It was no surprise that some fans walked away after 97 minutes, frustrated by Ange Postecoglou’s side’s inability to defeat a stubborn and ruthless Sheffield United side.

Many people would have thought, “The season as a whole is off to a great start, so just keep going,” but it was none other than Richarlison who ignited the fire.

All of a sudden, joining the game, he kicked the ball into the goal two times, and he assisted a teammate’s score in the 98th and 100th minutes.

This made the fans at the stadium very happy, especially for their stakes. Paul Merson, who used to play for Arsenal and talks about sports on TV, also said something about the win on Twitter.”

“It pains me to say this, but fair play is what drives great comebacks,” Merson said.

Is Obvious Tottenham is Flying

Points on the board, second place, interesting football, lots of goals, making the opponent play “Spurs” and the manager he loves. Will the real Tottenham please stand up? After years of fans being disappointed, the atmosphere at the club has completely changed.

And Postecoglou and some of his summer signings played a big role in this, as few expected such a rapid and dramatic change.

It was the 26-year-old Richarlison’s second Premier League goal for Spurs, and perhaps this could be the start of a recovery for the hard-hitting striker. He keeps getting better. We can see it clearly.

No one questioned the players’ work ethic or the passion they showed on the field. However, this bite, ruthlessness, and lack of sophistication meant that his criticism was justified. But maybe, just maybe, it’s not just that goal, but the way Spurs won that will propel Richarlison to bigger and better goals.

Paul Merson Compared Kai Havertz to Mesut Ozil, a One Time Arsenal Player that Mikel Arteta Feuded With and Ruthlessly Fired

Mikel Arteta and Mesut Ozil had a difficult working relationship. Havertz, 24, moved to the Gunners from Chelsea in the summer transfer window for £65 million, although he was scoreless in his first five outings for his new team.

During Sunday’s 3-1 victory for Arsenal over Manchester United, he squandered a fantastic opportunity. After a rocky start under Arteta, some Arsenal fans demand for Havertz to be released, but Merson is confident that he will eventually become a superstar.

However, the comparison to Ozil may worry Arsenal supporters because Arteta didn’t get the greatest performance out of the 2014 World Cup champion. Within months of Arteta’s hiring, Ozil was fired from the first-team squad and took a nasty jab at the Spaniard online.

He is playing in a challenging position. He’s not played all that well. Mikel Arteta will be by his side. Although Arsenal has won three games and drew one, he lacks confidence. You spent that cash and risked your safety to go after him.

To the top goes the cream. I’m a big fan, however, I did comment when he was signed that he reminded me of Mesut Ozil. The issue is that. He doesn’t appear overly interested if things aren’t going smoothly. That is not the case; it only seems that way.

However, Arteta and Ozil were known to argue. Arsenal first hired Arteta in December 2019; he had Ozil in mind. Nevertheless, despite being the best-paid player at the club, he never played again for the Gunners after the Covid epidemic.

Ozil was dropped by Arteta from his Premier League and Europa League teams, and he didn’t return to first-team action until he signed for Fenerbahce in January 2021. In an interview with Mirror Football, Ozil’s agent, Dr. Erkut Sogut, stated, “I just ask for fair treatment like with any other player.”

After Arsenal lost 5-0 to Manchester City in August 2021, there was a rift between Arteta and Ozil. After the game, Ozil used the phrase “trust the process” in a tweet, imitating Arteta, who frequently used it in his first few months in charge of Arsenal.

Alan Pardew Praises Arsenal Midfielder Declan Rice

The 24-year-old England international is a winner in the eyes of the former West Ham boss, who claims that Moises Caicedo, who transferred from Brighton and Hove Albion to Chelsea during the summer transfer window, offers better value for money.

Chelsea acquired Caicedo from Brighton for a transfer cost of £115 million (Sky Sports). Rice is paid at Arsenal a weekly salary of $240,000 (Spotrac), costing the club £100 million (ESPN).

Compared to Caicedo, who had one year, Declan Rice has been performing that duty for three to four years while sitting in front of the back four, according to Pardew.

“You were aware of his good character, and winning is why he has a good character. And that was evident.

“20 minutes at Liverpool”: Paul Merson makes fun of a Chelsea player who makes £100,000 a week

London – The Former English footballer said that he hasn’t seen the Chelsea star playing well since he played against Liverpool last season.

Paul Merson believes that Mudryk has not done anything worth remembering since his game against Liverpool last season. Merson said this while discussing Hojlund’s performance against Arsenal this past weekend.

In January 2023, Mudryk made a strong impression for Chelsea against Liverpool. In the January transfer window, the winger from Ukraine joined Chelsea. When he entered the game as a substitute in the 55th minute against the Reds, the £100,000-per-week (The Independent) winger made his Blues debut. Chelsea and Liverpool’s Premier League game concluded in a scoreless tie.

Paul Merson has brutally ridiculed Chelsea winger Mykhailo Mudryk while judging Manchester United forward Rasmus Hojlund after watching him against Arsenal last weekend.

Merson told Sky Sports: “Rasmus Hojlund looked good – a right handful. But that was for 20 minutes. “I saw Mykhailo Mudryk for 20 minutes at Liverpool in January, and I haven’t seen him since.”

Keeping a positive outlook on Mykhailo Mudryk

In regards to Mykhailo Mudryk, we do concur with Paul Merson. The Chelsea winger hasn’t had much of an impact on the team yet. For the Blues, the winger has made 18 Premier League games.

In those games, the Ukrainian player has only put up two assists and no goals.

That is not a good thing. But let’s not overlook the fact that Mudryk is only 22. Furthermore, he transferred to Chelsea amid a season during which the squad was underperforming, and its manager had been replaced.
Mudryk could advance and get better under Mauricio Pochettino, the former head coach of Tottenham Hotspur.

Mudryk is a reasonably young player who is still evolving, after all.

Paul Merson is ‘Shocked’ By the Sofyan Amrabat Situation, According to Liverpool And Manchester United Transfer News.

Paul Merson is shocked at the lack of interest from other teams in Sofyan Amrabat, whom Manchester United wants.

Amrabat and the Red Devils made a tight connection this summer. The Athletic claims that Manchester had an offer from United. He said it was a loan for €2 million, of which he is sure of €1 million.

Fiorentina turned down the proposal. On X, writer Jacque Talbot said that La Viola awaits a new offer as negotiations over the 27-year-old Moroccan international’s future continue.

Merson weighed in on Manchester United’s pursuit of Amrabat during this. Amrabat is a good player, he said on X, formerly known as Twitter. He has a huge fan in me. I’m surprised no one else has already spoken up for him.

For Manchester United, he will keep everything in check. Despite being physically fit, Amrabat has not played a single minute of Serie A football this season and is in the final year of his contract.

He was not included in the lineup for the Serie A team’s 2-2 Serie A tie with US Lecce on August 27.

Signings and Transfer Rumors

Mason Mount, who cost Manchester United £60 million, is more of an offensive midfielder. He was acquired from Chelsea this month. After Fred joined Fenerbahce, Amrabat would solidify the Red Devils’ options in defensive midfield.

Meanwhile, Scott McTominay is the preferred candidate of Thomas Tuchel to bolster his defensive midfield position.

According to reports, Manchester United connected with a surprise bid for Tottenham Hotspur’s Pierre-Emile Hojberg. Tottenham star is linked with a move to the Red Devils.

Since joining Spurs three years ago for €16.6 million from Southampton, the Danish international has been a consistent team member. He has played 148 times for Tottenham, a testament to his talent and stamina.

Fabrizio Romano, though, asserts that the player is disposable if the deal is put forward. In his CaughtOffside piece, the journalist said:

“About United, I want to be clear that Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is possible for the club, but Tottenham demands a high transfer cost. Tottenham’s message is crystal clear: “Important proposal or nothing.”

The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium has two more years left on Hojbjerg’s deal. Even if Manchester United signs Sofyan Amrabat from Fiorentina, it is unknown if they will pursue him.
