Edgar Chairez secured victory over Daniel Lacerda with a first-round submission during the preliminary card at UFC Fight Night 237 at Mexico City Arena.

Reflecting on the fight, Chairez expressed satisfaction at finally achieving a win in the UFC after a decade-long wait. He felt vindicated, especially considering that his previous submission victory against Lacerda was nullified. Chairez believed he had won the first encounter and felt Lacerda was unprepared for their rematch.

Chairez also discussed the challenges he faced during the weigh-in process. Despite diligently cutting weight, he was informed just three hours before the weigh-in that his opponent had failed to meet the weight requirement. This left him questioning why he had endured such struggles when his opponent was unable to make weight on time.

Looking ahead, Chairez expressed a desire to move on from facing Lacerda again and focus on new challenges. He was relieved to have finally secured a win and dedicated it to Mexico. Chairez set his sights on climbing the rankings and aimed to finish the year within the top 10 fighters in his division.
