Fan voting accounts for 50% of the decision on who will start, with the other 50% split evenly between current NBA players and a media panel. The results from the fan voting are being revealed in updates, with the first return shared on January 2, 2025, and subsequent updates on January 9 and January 16. The starters will be announced on January 23, 2025, with the official All-Star Draft scheduled for February 6.

The new format for the NBA All-Star Game this year includes a mini-tournament, but the voting process itself remains unchanged. As of the latest voting results, the top vote-getters include Giannis Antetokounmpo, Nikola Jokic, Jayson Tatum, Kevin Durant, and LeBron James, with some close races particularly in the backcourt.
