Sports are a great way to stay fit and healthy. There are plenty of sports out there, from football to basketball, tennis to golf, and even cricket. Some of them are very common, such as running or swimming, while others are less well known.
There are lots of unusual sports around the world. From the ancient sport of Sumo wrestling to the modern game of curling, these sports are often played in countries where they don’t get much attention.
Here are some of the strangest and weirdest sports around the world.
1) Zorbing
The zorb is a spherical ball that rolls down a hill at high speeds. It was invented in the early 1980s by John Wren, who was inspired by watching his son roll down hills while playing outside. He then created a small prototype using a plastic bag filled with water and some air holes. After many years of testing and improvement, he finally released the first commercial version of the zorb in 2002. The zorb is now sold around the world and is used in many different ways including for educational purposes, corporate events, birthday parties, and even as a toy for children.
In 2007, the first official Zorb World Championship took place in Australia. Since then, the event has been held annually in various locations around the world. The competition consists of three rounds: speed, distance, and tricking. In each round, competitors race their way down a steep slope. The fastest competitor wins.
The Zorb Racing League (ZRL) is a professional league that began in 2010. There are currently six teams competing in the league. Each team has two drivers, and they compete in races throughout the year. Teams consist of four members, and they have to work together to complete the course. The top driver from each team gets points based on how well they perform in each race. At the end of the season, the top three drivers get medals and prizes.
2) Cheese Rolling
In Scotland, cheese rolling is a traditional sport where people run down hills while carrying a wheel of cheese. In some places, they have been known to carry two wheels of cheese at once! If you want to try this activity yourself, make sure you get a good quality wheel of cheddar cheese. You’ll need to find a hill that’s not too steep but still challenging enough to test your skills. Once you’ve got your cheese, you’ll need to find someone willing to help you roll it down the hill. Try asking around if anyone knows any friends who might be interested in helping out.
Another way to enjoy cheese is to pick it yourself. When picking your use, make sure you’re choosing something that you know how to prepare. If you don’t know what to do with your cheese, ask a friend or family member who does.
If you’d rather learn how to make your use, then you should check out our video on how to make mozzarella cheese.

3) Cycleball
The term cycle ball was coined by the inventor of the game, John H. Williams, who invented the game while he was incarcerated at San Quentin State Prison in California. He called his invention “cycle ball” because he believed that the game would help him stay fit while he was locked away.
A cycle ball consists of two parts; the outer shell and the inner core. The outer shell is made out of plastic and is about 1/8th inch thick. The inner core is made out of rubber and is about 2 inches long. When the ball is thrown, the player catches it with their hand and then throws it back towards the wall. If they catch it again, they get points.
John H. Williams was born in 1891 in New York City. In 1915, he moved to San Francisco where he worked as a janitor. While working as a janitor, he began to play basketball and noticed how much exercise he got just playing the game. After realizing how much exercise he got from playing basketball, he decided to create a game that could give him the same amount of exercise. To do this, he created a game that involved throwing a ball back and forth between players. He named his game “cycle ball’ because he thought that the game would help keep him fit.
Williams first started teaching the game to inmates at San Quentin prison in California. After he taught the game to the inmates, he continued to teach the game to other prisoners throughout the United States. Eventually, Williams became famous for his game and he even wrote a book about it.
Today, people around the world enjoy playing cycle ball. There are many different types of cycle balls available and some of them have special features that make them easier to use than others. One example of a special feature is the Cone-a-Ball, which is designed to help players throw the ball further. Another example is the Bounce Ball, which bounces higher off the ground than regular cycle balls.
4) Sepak Takraw
Sepak Takraw (also known as Kotak) is a traditional sport played throughout Southeast Asia. It is similar to volleyball, except players use their feet instead of hands to pass the ball. The game is often played between two teams of three people each, where the goal is to score points by hitting the ball over the net and into the opponent’s end zone.
It was first introduced to the United States in the early 1990s by a group of Indonesian immigrants who were studying at the University of California, Berkeley. These students had been playing the game since they arrived in the U.S., and wanted to bring the sport to America.
This game is now played in many different countries around the world. Regional Sepak Takraw Federation (ISTF) was formed in 2004 to promote the sport internationally.
There are currently no official rules for Sepak Takraw, but some basic guidelines have been established. Each team consists of three players, and the size of the court is determined by the number of players. A player may only play if he/she is not injured, pregnant, or menstruating. Players wear shin guards, elbow pads, and mouthguards. The ball is about the same size as a basketball and weighs approximately 10-15 grams.
Sepak Takraw courts are generally set up in parks, schools, community centers, and even private homes. Most games last anywhere from 5 minutes to 1 hour.
This has become increasingly popular in recent years. Many universities and colleges have started programs to teach the sport to their students. The ISTF has also created a program called the World Sepak Takraw Championships, which takes place every four years.
It can be played indoors or out. However, the best conditions for the game are outside. The weather should be warm enough for players to perspire without getting overheated, and the ground should be dry. The most popular version of Sepak Takraw is played with a hard rubber ball. Other versions of the game use balls made of foam, cork, or leather.
It requires great footwork and coordination. Players need to know how to move their feet to get the ball over the net, and how to kick the ball while moving. Players spend much time practising before a match. They practice dribbling, passing, and shooting. They also work on their defense and offense.
The matches are held on grass courts, but artificial turf is sometimes used. The games are played with five sets of 15 points each. If the score is tied after the fifth set, then the game goes into overtime. Overtime lasts until one team scores a point.
The tournaments are divided into several categories based on age. The youngest category is for children ages 6-14, and the oldest is for adults.
5) Ostrich Racing
The Ostrich Racing League (ORL) was founded in 1990 by two brothers who owned a small ostrich farm in South Africa. At first, they had only six ostriches, but they expanded their business rapidly. Their growing popularity led them to begin racing ostriches at a local fair in 1994.
In 2007, ORL had over 2,000 ostriches! Today, the organization is one of the largest organizations of its kind in the world. There are currently 20 different breeds of ostriches running in races around the world. Every year, ORL hosts over 50 events throughout the United States, Canada, Australia, Mexico, Sweden, and Germany.
Many people have enjoyed watching these amazing animals race each other. They love watching the ostriches strut across the finish line and winning prizes. The top prize winners receive $10,000, while the runners-up receive $5,000. After the event, owners can sell their ostriches again, making this a great way to make money off of something that you already own.
6) Quidditch
Quidditch is a sport played between two teams on a field with broomsticks. It was invented by Harry Potter, in his book series. Quidditch is played using three balls (the quaffle), eight players (a Seeker and seven Beaters) and six bewitches (or Hufflepuff house team). You may be wondering why there are only four balls instead of five. The missing ball is called the Bludger, and its purpose is to hit the opposing team’s player if they try to steal the golden snitch.
There are two games per match; before the start of each game, both teams choose a Seeker who is responsible for finding the snitch. The Seeker runs around the pitch until he finds the snitch, then flies over to hand it off from a Keeper to their teammates. If they fail to find it, the Snitch is caught by someone on the opposite team. After the snitch is caught, the Keeper chases the seeker who caught it until he catches him again, at which point the snitch is dropped into the middle of the pitch and points are given depending upon how far the seeker got away from the snitch while chasing it. Players are allowed to use magic in Quidditch matches, though wizards have the advantage since they are faster and stronger than witches and wizards who are not able to use magic.
The Golden Snitch: The Golden Snitch is the most sought-after trophy in any Quidditch tournament. ToCup, a player needs to catch the snitch first. When it is captured, the game ends and the winner is determined by the score. One team cannot lose the game unless they fall victim to a bludger accident, and a team that captures the golden snitch wins.
Seekers: Seekers are chosen by the team captains before to help them track down the Snitch. Seekers carry brooms called Quaffles, which allow them to fly above the crowd and spot the Snitch. The Seeker has 30 seconds to catch the Snitch before the time runs out. Once the snitch is caught the keeper takes control of his broomstick and keeps flying toward the winning team. The keeper chases the seeker who had caught the snitch until he catches him again, at which point the snitching is dropped into the middle, and points are awarded according to how far the seeker got from the snitch while trying to catch him. Once the snitch falls into the hands of the winning team, the game is over.
Bludgers: Bludgers are round balls that are thrown at the opposing team by members of the opposing team. If a bludger hits a seeker, it causes damage to the seeker’s broom. If a bludger strikes a keeper, it could knock the keeper off balance and cause him to drop the snitch. On top of that, a bludger can cause severe injury to the seeker if it hits the seeker directly on the head.
7) Wife Carrying
This is a game where two people carry their partners around while they try to get them to fall over. It’s a fun way to spend time together and have some laughs.
This is similar to wife carrying except instead of being carried around, the person who falls gets to choose what happens to their partner.
In this version of wife carrying, each team member carries their partner around the track until they reach the finish line. Whoever reaches the finish first wins.
The same rules apply as in the previous game, but instead of just one winner, there are many winners. Each team member starts at the beginning of the course and runs to the end. When they reach the finish line, they drop off their partner and run back to start again. The last team member to cross the finish line wins.
This variation of the wife-carrying relay race requires teams to use flags to mark out the path. Once the flag is dropped, the runner picks up the flag and continues running. If the runner drops the flag before reaching the finish line, then they lose.
Wife carrying relay race without flags:
This variation of the wife-carrying relay race does not require teams to use flags. Instead, they simply pick up their partner and continue running.
Wife carrying relay race using a ball: This version of the wife carrying relay uses a tennis ball instead of a flag. Teams must throw the ball to their partner and catch it before they reach the finish line to win.
8) Toe Wrestling
Toe wrestling is a game where two people hold each other’s toes and attempt to pull their opponent down. The person who loses their balance first is out.
There are many types of toe wrestling games that can be played. Here are some examples:
One player stands facing the wall. The other player walks back towards him, then goes to the floor and attempts to get behind the standing player. If they succeed, the player on the ground gets to stand up and try again.
Two players lay face down on the floor. One player tries to get his feet underneath the body of the other player and lift them off the ground. When he does, the player on the bottom has to stand up. Players take turns walking backwards while holding each other’s feet. The last player to lose their balance is eliminated!
A variation of the above game. Players lie on their sides and try to get their opponents’ feet under theirs. Once one player lifts their opponent, they have to sit up. In another variation of the above game, only one player at a time is allowed to touch the floor. The last person left standing wins.
9) Shovel Racing
The shovel racing sport was invented in the early 1900s by a man named George H. Miller. He had been playing baseball and wanted to create a game where he could use his pitching skills. He came up with the idea of using a shovel instead of a bat and a ball. His first game was played at a local park and consisted of two teams of five players each. Each team would dig a hole in the ground and then race to fill it back up again. The winner was determined by who filled their hole faster than the other team.
Many rules govern the shovel racing sport. One rule states that no player may stand on top of any part of the dugout. Another rule states that if a player hits the dirt with the end of the shovel, they lose a turn. If a player loses three turns, they are out of the game. A third rule states that if a team digs themselves out of the hole, they win.
Today, the shovel racing sport is still played throughout the United States. The National Shovel Racing Association (NSRA) is the governing body for the sport. NSRA organizes tournaments throughout the year and awards medals to winners.
Players need equipment to play shovel racing sport. Shovels are the main piece of equipment needed. Shovels come in different sizes and shapes. Players should choose a size that fits them well. Other pieces of equipment include gloves, helmets, and protective gear.
10) Bossaball
A Bossaball is a combination of a basketball and a golf ball. You throw it, kick it, hit it, bounce it, roll it, catch it…pretty much anything you want to do with it including throwing it at people’s heads. It was invented back in 1983 by two brothers named John and Jeff Gullick. John played football and baseball (not soccer), and Jeff had no experience in sports whatsoever. They were both in the same math class together and they came up with the idea to mix the two sports. They called their new sport “baseball” due to its similarity to the word boss and the fact that it can be spelt using only letters from the alphabet.
The original bossaball was a simple game where players would play a pick-up style game with 8 balls in a field about the size of a tennis court. Players could score points by hitting a ball into the opponent’s goal area and then running around trying to get it out of the area before anyone else did. Points were scored if the player got the ball past the goalie and onto his side of the netting.
During the 1990s, the game evolved and became popular among youth in many urban communities. In 1992, one year after its conception, the first official league was formed, with over 100 teams spread throughout the United States. Then, in 1998, the National Federation of BossaBall Association was founded and helped expand the popularity of the game worldwide. Today, baseball has been adopted in countries all over the world and is even included in some school curriculums.
There are four different types of moss balls you can use in your games. A regulation baseball is a standard-sized ball used in the majority of baseball leagues across the United States. These balls vary in weight between 10 ounces to 14 ounces. You have two options when getting a baseball. You can go to any sporting goods store and buy a regulation-size ball, or you can try making your own. If you decide to make your own, the best way to find a good one is to take a regular golf ball and just cut off the top of it. After cutting off the top of the ball, place it in a machine that heats the plastic material and melts it down. Once the plastic has melted, use a tool to push it out and create a smooth surface. To finish it off, just add paint and put a string on it.
