Further clarity has emerged regarding WWE Superstar Kevin Owens’ serious injury prior to the 2024 Royal Rumble.

In the latest premium live event, Owens faced off against Logan Paul for the United States Championship. Despite Owens appearing poised to claim the title, the match concluded in a Disqualification for the SmackDown Superstar after he utilized brass knuckles against his opponent.

Recent reports indicated that Kevin Owens had participated in the Rumble match with a fractured foot sustained during his bout against Santos Escobar on SmackDown: New Year’s Revolution.

Now, Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful has purportedly corroborated these reports, suggesting that Owens’ injury was indeed legitimate. He revealed that WWE had Owens conduct his promo at the Performance Center due to the injury.

“This is accurate. It’s why they had him do that promo at the PC that aired on Smackdown,” Sean Ross Sapp affirmed. Following the 2024 Royal Rumble Premium Live Event, WWE released a digital exclusive interview with Kevin Owens. In it, KO expressed his intent to challenge Logan Paul for the United States Championship, seeking a rematch against the Maverick.

“I hope Logan Paul knows, I’m coming for a rematch. There’s no way things can end this way. First of all, he brought in the brass knuckles. In French, that’s called a ‘poing américain,’ which literally translates to ‘American Fist,’ which is fitting because he’s the United States Champion. He doesn’t do anything by the book, bringing in American Fists to try to retain the US Title,” Owens stated.
