Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) luminary Kylian Mbappe finds himself entangled in uncertainty regarding his departure from PSG amidst keen interest from Real Madrid. With his current contract at the Ligue 1 club set to expire at the season’s end, time is of the essence for the star player to make a decision about his future.
According to a report from AS, Mbappe is once again grappling with the prospect of joining Real Madrid, reminiscent of a similar scenario in 2022 that led to him renewing his contract with PSG. He harbors reservations about leaving France and remains indecisive about whether departing PSG aligns with his best interests.
In a 2022 interview with BBC following his contract extension with PSG, Mbappe addressed his enduring aspiration to play for Los Blancos, stating, “You never know what can happen in the future. I give up to think about the future, I only think about the present and the present is I signed a new contract for three years more at Paris St-Germain.” When pressed further, he emphasized the importance of honesty in his decision-making process, particularly in his communication with the president of Real Madrid, expressing respect for both the individual and the club.
Despite having an optional year in his current contract with PSG, Mbappe has refrained from activating it. Although he had previously vocalized his disinterest in signing a new deal last summer, reports from AS suggest a gradual shift in his stance.
Real Madrid president, Florentino Perez, voiced his uncertainty regarding Mbappe’s situation in a 2022 interview with El Chiringuito, reflecting on the player’s rejection of the club and subsequent contract renewal with PSG. Perez expressed disappointment, noting, “His dream was to play at Real Madrid, we wanted to do it last August and they didn’t let him leave, he kept saying he wanted to play at Madrid and like 15 days before he changed the situation.”
Amidst this uncertainty, Liverpool and Chelsea are reportedly monitoring Mbappe’s situation closely. Additionally, Al Hilal made a bid to acquire the Frenchman’s services last summer, which he declined, opting to remain in the Saudi Pro League.
