Paris Saint-Germain is reportedly contemplating a revival of their interest in Manchester United’s standout player Marcus Rashford.
According to British newspaper i News, the French powerhouse is eyeing a potential move for Rashford in the upcoming summer transfer window.
This speculation arises following Rashford’s absence from United’s recent FA Cup victory against Newport County, a consequence of his self-declared illness after a night out in Belfast, raising concerns about discipline.
While Manchester United is not actively seeking to offload the English forward, who committed to a long-term contract extension last July, Rashford’s season has been marred by challenges both on and off the field.
With only four goals and six assists in 26 appearances across competitions, Rashford’s current performance pales in comparison to his impressive tally of 30 goals and 11 assists in the previous season.
Although PSG had previously pursued Rashford before his contract extension with United, they are not currently prioritizing a bid. However, sources suggest that they may be tempted to make an offer at the season’s end.
Despite the recent disciplinary issue, Rashford remains available for selection in the upcoming matches, including the fixture against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Thursday (February 1). Manchester United addressed the matter internally, as confirmed in a statement via Fabrizio Romano:
“Marcus has taken responsibility for his actions. This has been dealt with as an internal disciplinary matter, which is now closed.”
Rashford’s contract with Manchester United runs until June 2028, and with 385 appearances and five major trophies under his belt, he has been a mainstay at Old Trafford throughout his career.
