The WWE Universe has recently turned to Twitter, rallying behind a 38-year-old star to headline WrestleMania following CM Punk’s injury.
The spotlight is on Drew McIntyre, who made a bold statement on the latest episode of Monday Night RAW. After Punk revealed his tricep injury, McIntyre interrupted him, expressing his satisfaction that The Straight Edge Superstar would miss this year’s WrestleMania.
Since then, McIntyre has been vocal on social media, taking jabs at Punk’s injury. His recent Instagram post showcasing a workout clip with the caption “Never skip tricep day!” has garnered attention, especially after WrestleOps’ Twitter handle shared it.
Fans praised McIntyre for his commitment to keeping kayfabe alive, with one noting that his actions were of Hall of Fame caliber.
Former WWE writer Vince Russo praised the recent promo exchange between CM Punk and Drew McIntyre on Monday Night RAW during a recent edition of Sportskeeda Wrestling’s Legion of RAW. Russo particularly liked how McIntyre’s line about praying for Punk’s injury garnered significant heel heat for The Scottish Warrior.
“We had the Punk in-ring with Drew McIntyre, and obviously that is a fix because Punk’s not gonna be able to be at WrestleMania now. That was a good promo by Punk. I think Drew had a great line when he said, ‘I prayed for this to happen.’ You got some real heel heat on Drew,” Russo commented.
During the segment on RAW, CM Punk expressed his intention to target Drew McIntyre once he recovers from his injury. The future direction of their storyline in WWE remains to be seen.
