Albert Sambi Lokonga remains optimistic about his prospects at Arsenal despite his current loan spell at Luton Town. In a recent interview with DH, the midfielder, who joined Arsenal from Anderlecht in 2021, expressed his confidence in making an impact at the Emirates Stadium.
Having previously had a loan stint at Crystal Palace in the latter part of the 2022-23 season, Lokonga moved to Luton Town on loan this season. With 10 appearances and two assists under his belt so far, he believes his performances at Luton will play a crucial role in shaping his future at Arsenal.
In his conversation with DH, Lokonga disclosed that while he hasn’t had recent discussions with Mikel Arteta, he remains committed to proving himself at Arsenal. He stated (via Sport Witness):
“I think I can have a future at Arsenal, but that will depend on my performances here. I’ve always said that as long as I have a contract with the Gunners, I’d like to make my mark there.”
Furthermore, Lokonga emphasized that he has no regrets about his decision to join Arsenal. Despite the challenges of breaking into the starting lineup amidst stiff competition in midfield, including players like Declan Rice, Thomas Partey, and Jorginho, Lokonga is determined to contribute to the team’s success. He expressed his hope that Arsenal clinches the Premier League title this season.
Although Lokonga has made 39 appearances for Arsenal without registering a goal contribution yet, he remains focused on seizing opportunities and making a meaningful impact when called upon.
