Tyson Fury’s highly anticipated showdown with Oleksandr Usyk, initially slated for Feb. 17, has been postponed due to a cut above Fury’s eye sustained during sparring.

The heavyweight titans were gearing up for a historic clash, vying to become the first undisputed champion since Lennox Lewis in 1999. However, a setback in Fury’s training camp led to the postponement just days before the scheduled bout.

Following the announcement of his withdrawal, Usyk’s promoter, Alexander Krassyuk, commented on Fury’s Instagram post, suggesting that the injury may be a divine message hinting at retirement for the WBC champion.

In response, Fury addressed Usyk and his promoter during an Instagram live session, expressing his determination to forge ahead despite the setback. He asserted:

“A little elbow to the eye nearly derailed the biggest fight of my career. But setbacks happen, and we press on. Usyk’s shedding tears. ‘Tyson should retire!’ Oh, you want me to retire? No chance. You’re getting knocked out cold! May 18th, the new date. Live and exclusive from Saudi Arabia.”
