The Minnesota Timberwolves are set to make a significant mark at the upcoming 2024 NBA All-Star Game.
In an announcement made by the NBA on Sunday, it was revealed that Minnesota’s head coach, Chris Finch, along with the Timberwolves staff, would be taking charge of coaching duties for the Western Conference team during the game.
This news adds to the already notable presence of the Timberwolves at the All-Star event, with star players Karl-Anthony Towns and Anthony Edwards also set to represent the team on the court.

Notably, this marks Finch’s first time being appointed head coach for the All-Star Game, making him the first Timberwolves coach to hold this position since Flip Saunders in 2004.
The Timberwolves’ achievement of securing Finch and his staff for coaching duties comes amid their impressive performance in the current season, where they boast a record of 35-15, clinching the best record in the Western Conference as of the cutoff date of February 4th.
Looking back, prior to this season, the Timberwolves had seen two consecutive playoff appearances but had fallen short of progressing past the first round. The franchise’s last postseason series victory dates back to 2004, and they have never advanced beyond the conference finals in their history.
However, the current 2023-24 season presents a promising outlook for the Timberwolves. With their strong record and a lineup featuring budding star Anthony Edwards alongside established players like Karl-Anthony Towns and Rudy Gobert, Minnesota appears to be a genuine contender in the Western Conference, hinting at the potential for playoff success.
