Despite receiving offers from Saudi Arabia and contemplating a return to Barcelona, Messi ultimately opted for the MLS in July. His arrival generated significant excitement, with global superstars tuning in to watch his debut in the Leagues Cup.
LeBron James attended Messi’s first match at the DRV PNK Stadium in July, witnessing the Argentine forward’s impactful performance off the bench against Cruz Azul, where he secured a 2-1 victory for Inter Miami with a stoppage-time free-kick.
The Los Angeles Lakers star believes Messi’s presence in the MLS has transformed the league, attracting a fresh wave of soccer enthusiasts. In a conversation with ESPN journalist Dave McMenamin, the 39-year-old expressed his profound respect for Messi and his remarkable achievements.
