Arsenal delivered a stunning performance as they thrashed West Ham United 6-0 at the London Stadium in the Premier League on Sunday, February 11.
The Gunners came into the match with solid momentum, having won three of their last five games and scoring 10 goals in those victories. Their recent 3-1 win against league leaders Liverpool showcased their capability under Mikel Arteta’s leadership.
Despite missing injured players Oleksandr Zinchenko and Gabriel Jesus, Arteta fielded a formidable lineup. Arsenal dominated from the start, controlling possession and dictating play in the first half. With an impressive 72% possession and 15 shots attempted, seven of which were on target, they asserted their dominance.
The scoring opened in the 32nd minute when Declan Rice’s precise corner found William Saliba, who headed home confidently.
Bukayo Saka extended the lead to 2-0 from the penalty spot after being fouled by Alphonse Areola in the box.
Rice’s set-piece delivery proved fruitful again, as Gabriel Magalhaes converted to make it 3-0. Martin Odegaard then assisted Leandro Trossard for Arsenal’s fourth goal just before halftime.
Despite West Ham making changes at halftime to stem the tide, Arsenal remained relentless. Odegaard provided another assist for Saka’s second goal in the 63rd minute. Benjamin White then contributed with an assist for Rice’s spectacular strike, sealing the 6-0 victory.
West Ham struggled to create chances, managing just one shot on target throughout the match. Arsenal’s resounding win showcased their attacking prowess and kept them in contention with Liverpool and Manchester City at the top of the table.
