Jaime Jaquez Jr. has seamlessly integrated into the Miami Heat culture, showcasing glimpses of a promising NBA career as a rookie. However, there are certain aspects of Heat culture that Jaquez hasn’t fully embraced, including his teammate Jimmy Butler’s high-priced coffee brand, BIGFACE.
Butler famously launched BIGFACE coffee during the NBA bubble, capitalizing on the scarcity of coffee supplies by pricing his product at a hefty $100 per cup. Despite their bond, as depicted in a recent NBA/Hotels.com commercial where Butler mentors Jaquez on coffee tasting, Jaquez remains unconvinced about becoming a coffee aficionado.
“I was tasting it all day while we were on the set,” Jaquez revealed. “I’m not a big coffee person, honestly. I’m more of a tea guy, but it’s worth a try.”
These comments were made during Jaquez’s appearance on Paul George’s podcast, “Podcast P,” where he also acknowledged the guidance he’s received from veterans like Bam Adebayo as he navigates his early NBA career. While Butler is known for his tough approach with young players, Jaquez appreciates the challenge and sees it as part of his growth.
“Jimmy be on my a*s too during the games and everything. He’s been great as well,” Jaquez affirmed.
Together, Jaquez and Butler have been instrumental in Miami’s push for playoff contention, especially after overcoming a challenging seven-game losing streak in January. Currently holding the eighth spot in the East, the Heat are striving to maintain their momentum, with Jaquez’s contribution proving vital to their success.
