Manchester United are reportedly gearing up for a significant investment in pursuit of Juventus defender Gleison Bremer.
According to Italian outlet Calciomercato (via TEAMTalk), the Red Devils are poised to launch a substantial financial “assault” to secure Bremer’s services at Old Trafford. The Brazilian defender has previously attracted interest from Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur.
Despite Bremer, 26, recently signing a new long-term contract with Juventus in December, extending his stay at the Allianz Stadium until 2028, Manchester United remain undeterred in their pursuit of the three-cap Brazil international.
The imminent arrival of minority owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe has fueled ambitions to strengthen Erik ten Hag’s defensive lineup this summer. Ten Hag has grappled with an injury crisis this season, with Lisandro Martínez, Harry Maguire, and Raphael Varane sidelined with fitness concerns.
Bremer’s reputation has flourished in Serie A, both with Juventus and his former club Torino. He made the switch to Massimiliano Allegri’s side in July 2022 for €44 million after impressing at the Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino.
Having featured in 25 matches across various competitions this season, Bremer has played a pivotal role in maintaining defensive solidity, contributing to 13 clean sheets for Juventus while also notching two goals.
As a key figure in Allegri’s defensive setup, Juventus is unlikely to part ways with Bremer easily. Intermediaries have reportedly indicated to Ratcliffe that Manchester United may need to shell out €70 million (£60 million) to secure the defender’s signature.
With plans to furnish Ten Hag with a substantial transfer budget this summer following a quiet January transfer window, Manchester United is prioritizing reinforcements in defense and attack to bolster their squad.
