Real Madrid could potentially part ways with Rodrygo in the upcoming summer transfer window as they prepare to secure the signing of Kylian Mbappé on a free transfer. The Spanish giants are leading the race to acquire the services of the French sensation, who is set to depart Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) when his contract expires.
According to reports from Mundo Deportivo via Express Sport, Real Madrid might consider sacrificing Rodrygo to accommodate Mbappé. While the club’s hierarchy recognizes the talent of the Brazilian winger, concerns have been raised about his work rate.
The report indicates that although Rodrygo is considered important to Real Madrid, doubts linger over his long-term potential, and the club would be open to selling him if the right offer presents itself.
Should Real Madrid decide to part ways with Rodrygo, there is expected to be no shortage of interested suitors, given his impressive performances at the highest level.
Liverpool, in particular, have been linked with the Brazilian forward for some time, with manager Jürgen Klopp reportedly an admirer.
Interestingly, Liverpool came close to signing Rodrygo for £2.5 million when he was just 16 years old, but the deal fell through when Santos opted not to sell him. Instead, he made a €45 million move to Real Madrid in 2018, where he has since claimed nine trophies.
Rodrygo has already amassed 200 appearances for Real Madrid, contributing 50 goals and 39 assists. His versatility in the front three has made him a valuable asset for the club, and at just 23 years old, he still has ample room for further development. With 19 caps for Brazil, he remains a key figure for the national team.
