Insider Marc Stein revealed that sources within the league disclosed the Bulls seriously contemplated trading swingman Alex Caruso despite adamantly asserting otherwise in the preceding weeks. Talks with the Golden State Warriors regarding Caruso reached an advanced stage but ultimately fizzled out, leaving the Bulls without a deal once again.
This marks the Bulls’ continued reluctance to make significant moves at the trade deadline, a trend observed since 2021. In addition to the discussions involving Caruso, Chicago also rebuffed advances from the Philadelphia 76ers regarding center Andre Drummond, reaffirming their commitment to retain him.
Caruso has been a valuable contributor for the Bulls this season, averaging 9.8 points, 3.8 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 1.4 steals, and 1.2 blocks per game. His stellar shooting, with a career-high 48.2 percent from the field and 40.1 percent from beyond the arc, has solidified his importance to the team.
Despite the interest from Golden State, the Bulls’ pursuit of Caruso faced resistance as the Warriors were unwilling to part with their promising young talent, Jonathan Kuminga, in any potential deal. Reports indicate that the Bulls would have required an exceptionally enticing offer to consider moving the 29-year-old guard.
Currently standing at 26-29, the Bulls find themselves in the ninth spot in the Eastern Conference.
