Trent Alexander-Arnold has potentially stirred some tension with his Liverpool teammate Mohamed Salah. The Reds’ full-back participated in a task with JD Football, where he had to choose between two players in a knockout-style format, pitting different stars against each other.
As the selection narrowed down to the final eight players, Alexander-Arnold opted for Cristiano Ronaldo over Zlatan Ibrahimović and Mohamed Salah over Samuel Eto’o.
On the other side of the bracket, Karim Benzema was favored over Robert Lewandowski, and Lionel Messi made it to the final four after Alexander-Arnold passed over Thierry Henry.
In the end, Alexander-Arnold picked Messi over Ronaldo in the final round. However, Alexander-Arnold’s injury during the FA Cup victory against Arsenal, aggravated further in Liverpool’s match against Burnley, has sidelined him for an extended period.
Jürgen Klopp addressed the injury concerns, stating: “Not great, definitely not. I would like to sit here and say we have absolutely no issues, but we have some.”
He continued, “So, not available is Ali, that’s a muscle injury where we don’t know exactly how long it takes but not for the foreseeable time coming back.”
Klopp also mentioned other injured players, including Diogo with a knee issue and Curtis with a bone ligament problem. He added, “All the little bit longer-term like Trent and Dom, they are on their way back but not in team training yet, so that means they are not available as well.”
Despite these challenges, Liverpool is gearing up for their upcoming match against Chelsea in the Carabao Cup final at Wembley on Sunday afternoon.
