Chelsea is reportedly eyeing Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale as doubts arise over Robert Sanchez’s position as Mauricio Pochettino’s top choice. According to HITC (via Caught Offside), the Blues are contemplating a move for Ramsdale, who is struggling for playing time at the Emirates Stadium.

The English goalkeeper has lost his starting spot to David Raya under Mikel Arteta’s management. Chelsea has been somewhat uncertain about Sanchez’s performance since his arrival last summer. The Spanish goalkeeper joined from Brighton & Hove Albion in a £25 million transfer.

Although Sanchez, 26, has made 19 appearances across all competitions, securing five clean sheets, he has grappled with injury concerns and is only just returning from a long-standing knee issue.

Ramsdale, aged 25, was hailed as one of the Premier League’s most dependable goalkeepers last season. He kept 14 clean sheets in 38 league outings as Arsenal mounted a credible challenge for the title. However, despite his prior success, Ramsdale has fallen out of favor with Arteta, who opted to recruit Raya from Brentford.

Consequently, the Spaniard has assumed the role of the Gunners’ primary goalkeeper, relegating Ramsdale to cup competitions.

With doubts lingering over his place in Gareth Southgate’s England squad, Ramsdale is keen on securing regular playing time. Any potential transfer is expected to materialize after the European Championships, a tournament in which Ramsdale is unlikely to feature prominently.
