Renowned journalist Ben Jacobs suggests that Arsenal may secure the signing of Napoli striker Victor Osimhen in the summer, amid interest from Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain (PSG).
According to Jacobs, PSG considers the Nigeria international as their top priority to fill the void left by Kylian Mbappe’s impending departure, but Osimhen favors a move to the Premier League. Jacobs also revealed that Chelsea, Arsenal, and PSG are all willing to meet Osimhen’s wage demands, which are around £250,000 per week.
Speaking to Caught Offside, Jacobs stated:
“We still can’t rule out Arsenal in the race for Osimhen. It’s also true that PSG have Osimhen very, very high on their list of targets and can move in the market because they will free up money due to Kylian Mbappé’s departure.”
Jacobs continued: “I’m still told by sources that Osimhen’s priority is the Premier League, which is encouraging for Chelsea and Arsenal. He would be looking for about £250,000 per week, which Arsenal, Chelsea, and PSG would all be happy to pay.”
Victor Osimhen has solidified his reputation as one of Europe’s top strikers during his stints with Lille and Napoli. Since joining Napoli in a club-record €80 million deal in 2020, the 25-year-old has been instrumental in their successes, including winning the Serie A title last season, ending a 30-year wait.
Osimhen was also named Serie A Footballer of the Year in 2023. With 68 goals and 17 assists in 120 appearances for Napoli, Osimhen has proven his quality on the field.
