Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino has delivered concerning news regarding his squad’s fitness ahead of their upcoming Premier League fixture against Brentford.
In his pre-match press conference, Pochettino revealed that Christopher Nkunku had encountered another setback due to injury. While the extent of the injury appears to be minor, Nkunku is expected to be sidelined for a few weeks. Pochettino stated:
“He suffered a problem in his hamstring, and then we will see in a few weeks if he is available. Now he is making a recovery from Sunday.
Unlucky, bad luck because to suffer another injury again is tough for a player that didn’t play too much during the season and also came from the Bundesliga, from Germany, with some problems.”
Christopher Nkunku arrived at Chelsea from Bundesliga club RB Leipzig in July 2023 in a deal valued at around £53 million. However, his debut for the club was delayed due to a knee injury shortly after his arrival.
Subsequent injury setbacks have limited Nkunku to just 10 appearances for the Blues over the past nine months. Despite his challenges, Nkunku will aim to regain fitness consistency to contribute further to the team’s success.
