Arsenal midfielder Jorginho has faced speculation about his future with his contract set to expire in June of this year.
However, his agent Joao Santos has offered reassurance to the Gunners, emphasizing Jorginho’s contentment at the club and desire to stay. Speaking to TVPlay, Santos stated,
“With his contract expiring in June, Arsenal remains our priority. Jorginho is highly satisfied with his teammates, Arteta, and Edu Gaspar.”
“We will carefully evaluate any proposals and determine the best course for his future.”
Jorginho arrived at Arsenal from Chelsea in a transfer deal valued at approximately £20 million in January of last year. He emerged as a crucial figure in the squad, particularly amid Thomas Partey’s injury setbacks, offering valuable support during critical matches towards the end of the previous season.
Despite assuming a less prominent role following the arrival of Declan Rice, Jorginho has consistently displayed professionalism.
Since joining Arsenal, he has made 41 appearances across various competitions, contributing with one goal and two assists. In the current season, the Italian has featured in 25 matches, registering one goal and one assist.
Jorginho’s presence has been instrumental in Arteta’s midfield strategies, especially in matches against formidable opponents, where his adept ball retention and exceptional passing abilities have been pivotal in unlocking the pace of Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli on the wings.
