Real Madrid’s Jude Bellingham shared a light-hearted moment with Arsenal’s Declan Rice after the latter was honored as the Premier League’s Player of the Year at the London Football Awards.
In 2023, many players from the England national team embarked on new journeys to showcase their talents on bigger stages following years of impressive performances. Among them were Mason Mount, Declan Rice, Jude Bellingham, James Maddison, and Harry Kane.
Rice’s exceptional year saw him become Arsenal’s record signing for £105 million from West Ham United, where he had led them to the UEFA Europa Conference League title as captain. His move surpassed Jack Grealish’s transfer fee, making him the most expensive English player.
Since joining Arsenal, Rice seamlessly integrated into the team and became a pivotal figure in their quest to challenge Manchester City’s dominance.
His outstanding performances throughout 2023 earned him the prestigious Player of the Year award at the London Football Awards.
Sharing glimpses from the event on Instagram, Rice received congratulatory comments from teammates and fans. Among them was Bellingham, who playfully teased Rice about his choice of tie.
Both Bellingham and Rice, who commanded hefty fees exceeding €100 million, have justified their investments since joining new clubs last summer.
Bellingham has been prolific for Real Madrid, tallying 20 goals and eight assists in 29 appearances this season. Meanwhile, Rice has showcased his versatility and creativity in Arsenal’s midfield, contributing four goals in 36 outings across competitions.
