Ruben Amorim

Chelsea has reportedly earmarked Brighton’s Roberto De Zerbi and Sporting Lisbon’s Ruben Amorim as potential successors to Mauricio Pochettino, although the club intends to support their current manager until the season’s end.

During Sunday’s 2-2 draw with Brentford, Chelsea supporters voiced discontent towards Pochettino and the club’s owners, raising doubts about whether the Argentine will fulfill his two-year contract signed last summer.

Despite fan unrest, Chelsea’s ownership remains steadfast in their support of Pochettino, viewing him as leading the team in the right direction amidst injury setbacks and a relatively inexperienced squad.

While Todd Boehly and Clearlake seek continuity after numerous managerial changes last season, they are exploring long-term options, evaluating De Zerbi and Amorim as potential candidates.

De Zerbi, whose tenure at Brighton has shown promise despite recent setbacks, has also attracted interest from Liverpool and Manchester United. Meanwhile, Amorim was previously considered by Chelsea before Pochettino’s appointment.

Despite concerns about Chelsea’s second-half performances under Pochettino, particularly the lack of consistency after encouraging first-half displays, the club remains committed to evaluating his performance until the season’s conclusion.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea’s stance on Pochettino remains unchanged, prioritizing discussions about his future at the end of the season once results have been assessed over the coming matches.
