Hunter Lawrence Sidelined for Birmingham Supercross with Shoulder Injury

Hunter Lawrence, a contender in the Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship, will miss this weekend’s Birmingham Supercross due to a shoulder injury. The setback occurred during the eighth round at Daytona Supercross when the elder Lawrence brother was holding a strong sixth position in the 450SX main event.

Unfortunately, a heavy crash altered his trajectory. Observers noted his inability to continue racing, prompting him to navigate his bike off the track, bypassing the mechanics’ area and heading straight into the pits. Initial post-race reports from Honda HRC hinted at a possible shoulder injury, with a definitive diagnosis awaiting an MRI on Sunday.

Subsequent assessments confirmed Lawrence’s fractured scapula. SupercrossLIVE relayed the update, stating, “With a small fracture to his left scapula, incurred in a crash during last weekend’s main event. Hunter and the team are still awaiting a prognosis from doctors, but he is focused on returning as quickly as possible.”

This season marks Hunter Lawrence’s debut in the 450SX Class, and despite encountering challenges, he’s showcased promising performances. His journey through the first eight rounds has been marked by finishes of DNQ-10-7-11-8-5-5-21, positioning him tenth in the standings with 87 points.

Notably, his recent form saw improvement with better starts and increased presence within the front group, culminating in consecutive fifth-place finishes. Regrettably, there’s currently no specified timeline for his comeback.

In the broader Supercross standings, Hunter’s brother, Jett Lawrence, leads the charge with 160 points, followed closely by Cooper Webb and Chase Sexton. With the season unfolding, Lawrence’s absence from the upcoming race in Birmingham serves as a notable development in the competitive landscape of the championship.
