William Byron and Kyle Larson from Hendrick Motorsports have been successful in the NASCAR Cup Series this season, with Byron winning two races and Larson winning one. However, when it comes to racing at Richmond Raceway, both drivers admit they lack confidence.
Byron explained that Richmond is a challenging track where they haven’t consistently performed well. Despite some good races in the past, they haven’t been able to feel confident about their performance there. However, he feels optimistic this time due to a recent successful test and changes in their preparation.
Larson shares a similar sentiment, despite being the defending champion at Richmond and having won there twice before. He admits that Richmond has been tough for him personally, with inconsistent performances. Winning the pole position boosted his confidence, but he remains cautious about expecting too much.
On the other hand, Denny Hamlin feels confident about his chances at Richmond, considering his previous successes at the track. He believes his strong track record here puts him in contention for another good result.
