Taylor Heinicke is still with the Falcons as a backup to Kirk Cousins, but his contract has changed. He agreed to earn less money for the 2024 season. Initially, he was supposed to make $5 million, but now it’s reduced to $1.21 million.
Additionally, he got a $1.32 million bonuses and lost $40,000 in per-game roster bonuses.
This helped the Falcons save over $4 million in their salary cap.
Even though the Falcons traded Desmond Ridder, leaving them with only two quarterbacks, Heinicke’s new contract suggests he’ll remain as the backup quarterback in Atlanta this season.
