Brentford got a bit closer to staying safe after drawing 0-0 with Brighton in the Premier League on Wednesday.
Although Thomas Frank’s team hasn’t won in eight games now, Luton’s 2-0 defeat to Arsenal helped Brentford widen the gap by six points from the relegation zone.
On the other hand, Brighton missed an opportunity to capitalize on West Ham, Newcastle, and Wolverhampton losing points this week in the race for European soccer next season.
Yoane Wissa had a close chance to score for Brentford in the first half, and Bart Verbruggen stopped Ivan Toney’s shot.
Joao Pedro, who returned for Brighton after being injured for two months, made Brentford’s goalkeeper Mark Flekken work for a save.
In the end, Brighton’s substitute Danny Welbeck had two opportunities in added time to win the match but missed both with a header and a low shot.
