Josh Maciejewski had a quick major league debut with the New York Yankees, leaving little for his family to witness. “It felt like it was over in a flash,” said the 28-year-old left-handed pitcher.

Maciejewski took over from Nestor Cortes on the mound in the ninth inning against the Miami Marlins on Monday night. He managed to retire three batters with just four pitches, getting Nick Fortes, Nick Gordon, and Bryan De La Cruz out, securing a 7-0 victory.

“I thought I would pitch a bit longer,” Maciejewski admitted. Yankees manager Aaron Boone had already used several relievers in previous games, leaving limited options.

As a result, Maciejewski was brought in from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, while Clayton Andrews was designated for assignment.

Maciejewski, drafted in the 10th round in 2010, had been playing in Triple-A this season after spending time in Scranton for five seasons. He arrived at Yankee Stadium on short notice, with his family in attendance.

Despite his rapid debut, Maciejewski remained relatively unknown in the Yankees’ clubhouse, with his locker placed in a corner without a nameplate.
