Report: White Sox’s Luis Robert Jr. Expected to Miss 6-8 Weeks with Hip Injury

The Chicago White Sox face a setback as center fielder Luis Robert Jr. will be sidelined for six to eight weeks due to a left hip flexor injury, reported by the Chicago Sun-Times’ Daryl Van Schouwen. The injury occurred during Friday’s game against the Kansas City Royals, forcing Robert out after hitting a double. Since then, he has not returned to the field and will be placed on an extended injury list.

Robert, a seasoned player in his fifth year, started the season with six hits, two home runs, and four RBI in 28 at-bats, holding a .214 batting average. Notably, he had an outstanding previous season, amassing 144 hits, 38 home runs, and 80 RBI with a .264 average, leading the White Sox in key statistical categories.

Chicago’s 1-8 start to the season compounds the blow of Robert’s injury. The team secured its sole victory against the Atlanta Braves but suffered series sweeps at the hands of the Detroit Tigers and the Royals. Now, they face the Cleveland Guardians hoping to reverse their fortunes.

Robert’s absence poses a challenge for the White Sox’s offense, necessitating others to step up. With only a handful of players hitting home runs, the team must rally to regain momentum and salvage the season amid their shaky start.
