Joining Edwards in the Mystics’ draft picks are Kaylynne Truong from Gonzaga (second round, No. 21 overall) and Nastja Claessens from Belgium (third round, No. 30 overall).

The Mystics, undergoing roster changes following the departures of key players like Elena Delle Donne and Natasha Cloud, were strategic in their selections. Edwards, a 6-3 power forward known for her versatility, brings promise with her impressive stats from her time at Connecticut.

Edwards, who honed her skills in a program renowned for producing WNBA-ready players, is ready to adapt to the demands of the professional league. She sees herself as a versatile player, prepared to contribute in various roles and make an impact on the court.

With her ability to finish around the rim and her strong defensive presence, Edwards fits well into the Mystics’ plans. General Manager Mike Thibault sees her as a valuable addition to the team’s lineup, capable of playing alongside fellow bigs like Shakira Austin and Stefanie Dolson.

As Edwards embarks on her WNBA journey, she looks forward to evolving her game, with plans to expand her shooting range to include three-pointers in her arsenal. Thibault emphasizes her potential for growth, highlighting her dedication to improvement and her willingness to embrace new challenges.

With Edwards’ arrival, the Mystics aim to bolster their roster and build a team that can adapt to different playing styles and excel in various situations. As she steps onto the court, Edwards is poised to make her mark and contribute to the Mystics’ success in the seasons to come.
