Joel Embiid demonstrated why Philadelphia always has a chance for a deep playoff run whenever he’s playing.
Embiid scored 23 points, grabbed 15 rebounds, and made a crucial assist to Kelly Oubre Jr. for a three-point play that helped the 76ers secure a 105-104 victory over the Miami Heat in the Eastern Conference play-in tournament on Wednesday night.
With this win, the 76ers secured the No. 7 seed and will face the New York Knicks, who are the second seed, in the opening round of the Eastern Conference playoffs. The first game will take place on Saturday at Madison Square Garden.
The Heat, who made it to the NBA Finals last year from the play-in tournament, will face the winner of the late play-in game between Chicago and Atlanta on Friday night. The victorious team will earn the No. 8 seed.
