Aston Villa manager Unai Emery has extended his contract until 2027, the club announced Tuesday. Emery took over when Villa was struggling and at risk of being demoted last season.

Since then, he’s turned things around remarkably. Villa is now sitting fourth in the Premier League and is in the running for a spot in the Champions League. Additionally, under Emery’s guidance, the team has progressed to the Europa Conference League semifinals.

Despite interest from other big clubs like Liverpool, Barcelona, and Bayern Munich in hiring new coaches this summer, Emery has chosen to continue his journey with Villa by prolonging his contract, which he initially signed in October 2022.

“We are all on the same page – the fans, the club owners, management, and the players. We are united in our vision,” Emery remarked. He took over from Steven Gerrard, who left after a series of poor results. When Emery joined, Villa was just above the relegation zone based on goal difference.

Emery, who came from Villarreal, guided Villa to a commendable seventh-place finish last season, securing European qualification for the first time in over a decade. With four Europa League titles under his belt – three with Sevilla and one with Villarreal – plus a French league title with Paris Saint-Germain, Emery brings a wealth of experience to Villa.

Despite rumors suggesting he might be pursued by other clubs at the season’s end, Emery has chosen to continue his work at Villa.
